Right now my 1/72 Revel Fokker Dr.I is gloss red (it's Manfred von Richthofen's aircraft) so that I could apply the decals. Should I leave it gloss red, or was it flat red in real life?
Any advice is much appreciated!
Thanks

Greetings MB.

There are two components to your question.

1. The red colour was not bright. But more like an insignia red tinged with an milk brown like Testors 1166 in the bottle.

2. Reflectance was not something pilot's wanted on their aircraft and in scale items like this flat or semi gloss is better. Its more realistic and it helps invite the viewer to look at the build longer.

kit review here.

My Dr.I builds here.

Also the Baron flew different Fokkers. But if its his last mount it should be red(perhaps with a brown tint in it) and white tailfin.

Cheers
