anyone interested in a vac u form build?
while i realise that we are in an age where so called "shake and bake" kits exist most people still end up doing alot of work with resin and photoetch, both of which can be used with a vac kit.
theres also the thing that you can make some really obscure aircraft that are not covered by injection builds.
its just a thought, good, bad...let me know.

Paul,
I'd be in, I have quite a few vacs I could build and was hoping someone would suggest the campaign.

Hi Paul
That sounds like an excellent idea. Never made one before, so I will have to buy one, but I am in.

Cool I'll give this a go, I have several 1/144 vacform kits waiting in the stash.
Paul as you are allowing conversions can I build one of Welsh models newer vacform kits which come with resin wings?

Hi Paul
I've got plenty of vacuforms in the stash, so I'd try and join in if time permits.
All the best

Here's something to whet the whistle...
These are, believe it or not, vacs...the Helldiver is a Combat Models vac in 1/32, the Ar-234 is an old ID Models kit with the help of some resin parts from Radu Brinzan, the guy who mastered the MDC resin kit.
My entry into this will either be a 1/32 F-102, or possibly something bigger...we'll see when the start date comes around.

Ok! Jeff I am jealous now, your very nice builds put my old Mcdonnell XP-67 Moonbat to shame. It bit the dust long ago (before digital cameras) I think that my son used it for a volcano/firecracker practice. . Any way I will be watching with very interested patientce.

Combat models is still in business, Jeff Roberts took it over from the late John Rucks. He's made improvements to many of the kits.

Cheers Paul,
I have a 1/48 scale Gloster Javelin F(AW)1 by Airways Vacuform that's been in my stash for over 20 years. This is the perfect excuse to break it out and give it a go.
Many thanks for the great idea. Please count me in!

So when do think that we should plan on the hair pulling party? The last vac build made me bald, and caused a divorce.

OK,
Its all kinda scary but I've always wanted to do a vac-kit. I just bought a Macchi Mc-200 kit. So you can deal me in when ever this starts and I'll see if I can avoid making a total hash of it!
Cheers,
Fred

You sure about that?
I just got my kit in the mail today (whoa boy.)
The good news: its a total opportunity to hone hobby skills.
This Macchi is a _total_ garage kit. 2 vacuform sheets and a bag of white metal parts. (That's pretty much it)
No wheel wells, no cockpit, no decals. Nothing. I do, however, have a plan. Deep deep in the darkest recesses of my stash closet I have a Tauro MC.202 kit. The kit has lots of detail but the mold quality is so poor that, when presented with some Hasegawa kits, I just chucked it into the vault.
Now I can use bits like wheel wells and landing gear covers to flesh out this vac kit.
It... just... might... work!!
(cue thunderclap and flash of lightning)
Cheers,
Fred
