Hello there!

The F6F was always my favourite plane, ever since I saw the Midway film with Charlton Haston (granted, those were supposed to by F4Fs, but in the movie scenes were a lot of Hellcats also). Back in those days the only offering I remember was the 1/72 F6F-5 from Airfix, which my father build and which I still have. When I came back to the hobby I decided to build this plane. This time I decided to go with the 1:48 scale and I bought the Eduard kit, since It has a lot of extras like pre painted PE and canopy masks. It is an easy kit, but I screw up with the first camouflage and had to repaint it (will never use humbrols again!). In the future I plan on building the whole gang with F4F, F4U, Avenger, Helldiver, Dauntless and so on, so any comment is welcome.

Lovely finish after your paint problems who's paint did you finally use. I've built the Eduard Hellcats in F.A.A markings using Xtracrylix paints which I realy liked.

Nice looking Hellcat Naseby. Fantastic kit, the Eduard 1/48 Hellcat has to be one of the most enjoyable builds for me in 2010.
All the best.

Thanks guys for the feedback, Im happy you like it. As for the colours This one was the first kit I painted with Tamiya acrylics and they are waaay better than humbrol enamels. They are easier to handle, they do not dry out in the bottle and they make a finer surface. The Eduard kit is the best out there, thats for sure, and it is also easier than their Fw-190, Bf-110 or P-39. The only lettdown are the wheels, which look somewhat thinn.

Excellent job on your hellcat! I really like how your paint job turned out. I have the eduard F6F-5 weekend kit in progress at the moment. You are correct about these being excellent kits, so far my has gone together like a dream. Im just hoping I can turn out a decent overall weathered blue paint scheme, Ive yet to tackle one. I was unimpressed by the wheels/tires as well and elected to get some aftermarket replacements.
