Awesome work Adam, I love the scratch building and the folded parts. The base is also very nice.
What exactly is it that you aren't happy with on the painting? I agree with others that it's a nice paint job so far. It would be interesting to hear your feedback though and for you to go a little more indepth so we can share our thoughts on what you think might be the problem.
Best wishes
Jon

Hello everybody
Thanks for all the positive feedback and with this occassion i would like to wish everyone Happy new year.
Now going back to the subject, the reason why i am not happy is the fact that i cannot (in my opinion) paint all the small details to the standard i would like to.
The devil is always in the details, so that is why i am getting so frustrated.
Other problem i have is, that paint layers are too thick and i am loosing a lot of the details and after that i cannot achive that "flat " look.
When i asked my club members (as this problem is not new to me) they are saying that maybe poor quality airbrush is the reason.
I am painting with Tamiya acrylics, 50-50 ratio with dedicated thinner.

Hi Adam, I also use Tamiya paints a lot with the Tamiya Thinner.
I tried using lacquer thinner as was suggested in the Mig Productions DVD, but I personally prefer Tamiya Thinner. Actually its impossible to buy the brand of thinner Mig's team used in that DVD now as the company in Japan won't export it due to new solvent laws.
When I paint with Tamiya though I usually thin it quite a lot and build up in thin layers. I was terrified at first (coming from an armour background) that I would lose all the fine surface detail on aircraft (rivets, panel lines etc). I usually thin four drops of paint to 8 drops of thinner. I use an one of those squeezy droplet things I got from a local model shop.

This is an awesome build Adam, I want to dig out my Super Stallion now and build it!
I have the same problem with you when it comes to details, and I get hung up on it to the point that I can't move forward with my builds which is annoying to say the least, but I am trying to learn to just let it go. I also struggle with keeping the paint thin enough on aircraft, the detail can disappear pretty quickly and I'm learning how to moderate that.
*ps: I highly doubt your airbrush is the culprit unless it just needs a good cleaning.

Hello
Gundam:
I will try different ratio with my next project (probably dark side of the force, AT-AT for a client, or maybe AV-8B Harrier II), maybe that is the case.
Jeremy:
You now that feeling mate, when all the hard work with building is nearly ruined with painting.
When i was building armour in 1:35 scale i could always hide the "problems" with weathering, but not over here.
Well there is only one way to get to perfection, practice and practice and practice.
Happy new year everybody, lots of finished models, and hope that VAT rise won't hit us that hard.

Hello Everybody
I have finished this project yesterday. I was planning to make some "theme" pictures, but weather and show in Bolton stopped me from doing this.
As i am still trying and trying to make decent pictures i hope those will be enough:
Thanks to everybody who visit this blog and support build.

Just wanted to say this looks kick arse, the HH-60H turned out great and your choice of display is just excellent. Well done Adam!

Just to echo what Jeremy said above...Awesome. I too like the elevator as a base. Great job.

Would you share with me some informations on the bars used to hold the rotor blades?
I am doing my best to replicate your build.
Best,
Lucio
