Nice viermot töter, Steffen. Very nice looking 262 and the diorama sets the scene well.

Is the scene set to be Summer 1944?

well, that aircraft never fired a shot at anger ... just test missions. So "Viermot-Töter" is not really appropriate .. the scene is spring 1945, lets say JV44 just before Wilhelm Herget started to the two only "combat" mission on 16th April where the gun failed both times.

thanks mate! I filled the panel lines, then airbrushed silver. Then I painted the "putty" with RLM 02. You see from the in progress pix, that I had to touch this up for a better effect. (BTW I used the artwork in vol2 of the classic pub. Series on the Me262 as a guide, plus the photo in the Me262 production log book) I am sure many modeller can do this better, but I am quite happy with it.

I thought the dio would fit the scene very well --- there were many shelters in the woods around Munich. Though it is of course not fully correct in a historical sense.

No, I guess this bird never really drew blood, but it was an intended viermot killer. The concept might work on paper, but reality is sometimes different.

A fine looking diorama! I would be interested in learning a bit more about it's construction, namely; the making of the wooden hardstand, the blast walls, and the two track "road". I'm also curious as to whether or not the upper panel enclosing the little popgun is permanently fixed or removable. It looks to be fitted too well to be removeable but you never know?? I build in 1/72 and have only made a couple of little dioramas but I think your technique could be replicated in a smaller scale, thus my interest. Your project is an inspiration to me. And you must know that "imitation is the sincerest form of flattery".

The hard stand and road are Mark 58 products ... and Marc Toillié has a bunch more stuff , also some in 72nd scale. As for c&m. This mostly based on my personal taste. IMO Late war the stuff was mostly left unpainted. The gear legs came from a different company so thes were probably (possibly) painted. I just had a decision with a clubmember who insisted the crate would be painted RLM 74/75 as this would have been an early airfram. Well I think it was painted 82/83 as this prototype was built up in 1945 ...

so you see there probably is no absolute truth, but some educated guessing
