Greetings all. Here we are again and its time to open another thread. First of the line we have Mirage bringing out their long promised reissues and new lozenge.

1. Schusta/Schlasta 27b Halberstadt CL.II
Two-seat ground support aircraft / Middle production batch
scale 1/48 | cat. no. 481308

Halberstadt CL.II and Hannover CL.II and CL.IIIa were the first series produced attack aircraft. These 'flying machine gun posts' (as the German propaganda described them) were able to destroy the best concealed enemy positions and to decimate Entente infantry. To give them even more hitting power, the Halberstadts and Hannovers were combined in larger combat groups known as the Schlachtgruppen. Although the Halberstadt CL.II was designed as a light two-seater, it was also a dangerous opponent for allied fighters. Since its formation in December 1916, Bavarian Schusta/Schlasta 27 b participated in major battles. Verdun, Arras, Flanders, Cambrai, Operation Michael in 1918 are just some of them. This was one of the most interestingly decorated German ground support units in WWI. . .

2. Schusta/Schlasta 27b Halberstadt CL.II + 5 colour Lozenge sets
scale 1/48 | cat. no. 481401
The set includes: Halberstadt CL.II (mid production) + 5 colour Lozenge Decals Set ,

To carry over from the 2010 thread, we should see the Nieuport 24 and Nieuport 27 in 1/72 from Roden. In addition, the Nie.24, Nie.24bis, Nie.25 and Nie.27 should also show up this year from them in 1/32.

But nothing's more important than those Nieuports in 1/72.

I've also seen that HR Models is releasing an Hanriot HD.1 in 1/72 - in injected plastic. If it's as good as their Avia 'tweeners (which I've only read about) then it should be a good kit.

Greetings all.

Announced in Oct. 2010. Ordered on Dec. 11 2010 from Jadar, this just arrived at my door. Mirage 1:48 "spring colour" (my description) Austrian Sworl Camouflage. This represents preprinted fabric from the factory and applied to the wings of Oeffag Albatros machines. There are 4 strips @ in a bag. I purchased two bags and the header cards were applied in reverse to each other. Decals are typical water slide types. More later.

A parcel arrived today from Wingnut Wings.

To WNW Gen Manager:
This is to confirm the arrival today of the WNW kits DH 9a (32007) and
W.29 (32010). Also in the parcel (two boxes taped together) was a
sheet of the Albatros D.V decals (30015).

Bit funny, cause by december 1916 the battle of verdun was quit finished.

Anyway, wonder how the quality is for the Mirage decals, sure could use a set for my Karaya Halbie CL IV.

Cheers, Nico

Now, that's what I call news! (almost missed it during my quick "daily read" )

I had a brief look at the Instructions and like what I saw; bolt (bulk) stock vs.what I believe Stephen terms "cookie cutter" .

My understanding is that this is their revised/upgraded product...........Can you comment Stephen, especially on accuracy of colors and pattern or do you need it in hand first? (assume there will be a review eventually)

I am ordering some momentarily to beat the stampede. Pricey but long overdue, hope it's up to the accuracy and quality of their kits.

Cheers!

Well now, its a bit lean concerning the news from the toy fair.

Nürnberg Toy Fair 2011

Mirage holds the high point of the show for our genre in 1:48. Eduard and Roden will no doubt have some re-releases. The smaller companies have some newer stuff and of course Wingnut Wings.

Eduard is putting out the all plastic kit Weekend Edition - 1/48 #84150 Albatros D.III Oeffäg 153.27, Georg Kenzian, Flik 55/J, Pergine, Winter, 1917

This aircraft was accepted by the air force in September, 1917, and attached to Flik 55/J, where it became the personal plane of Georg Kenzian von Kenzianshausen. On this aircraft, he gained his fourth and fifth victories on the 18th and 27th of November, 1917. This plane was damaged on landing and stricken off charge in January, 1918. Kenzian began his flying career as an observer with Flik 24. His first victory was gained with his pilot, Rudolf Forst on June 16th, 1916, the victim being a Farman, and four days later came the next victory, with the pilot being Josef Kiss. However, at the end of July, the crew
of Alois Jezek and Georg Kenzian were shot down by a group of Italian fighters. After recovering, service at a flight school, and pilot training, Kenzian was transfered to Flik 55/J as a deputy commander in August, 1917. Here, he scored further kills, and by March, 1918, he would raise his tally to nine. At the end of the war, he served as CO of Flik 68/J and 42/J.

For April another Eduard Weekender #84152 Albatros D.III Oeffäg 253.36 1/48.

I have the checkerboard decal for this kit and it is comparable to a PHEON models decal. Well researched, complete with details, great drawings and history. If you're on the fence, take the plunge.

Well now at Omaka Fly-in WNW had on display test shots of;

Fokker D.VII - late model Fokker built airframe with BMW & Oigee optical sight.
Fokker E.II / III appears factory standard.
Sopwith Triplane - standard parent Co. production single Vickers gun.
DH 2 - mid production early two bladed prop, gravity tank under top wing. The fuselage sides has the option for stretched fabric effect.
FE.2b - completed in war paint.
DH 9a - completed in USMC war paint. From previously issued kit
RE 8 - completed in war paint. From previously issued kit.

And a flyer they were handing out also listed the Sopwith Snipe as being in development.
