Brass for the turn buckles? I am shocked.... Well, not really, but they did turn out excellent. My main problem is getting consistent lengths but I am working on it. Yours look the part and really dress the bird up.



Sorry for hijacking the blog Terri, but to get the same length everytime just build yourself a little jig with a block of hard stuff (wood, insulating material etc) and a pin. Make a shallow groove in the hard stuff (wood), drill a small hole or two to put the pin in in the groove and then another groove at right angles to the original one to use as the knife groove. Voila, same length turnbuclkes!

Oh, BTW, great build Terri. Glad you discovered the beauty of the brass turnbuckles!

Warren , no need to feel sorry for the hijacking . I don't use such a hi-tech way for cutting the brass the same lenght , but I do have marks on my cutting mat which I use as a guide . I have a very limited supply of the brass and will still use the q-tip method .
