Every once and while I like to dig in the stash and pull out a WW 2 kit . I always like the Typhoon so it was an easy choice . I will be doing this one out of the box . Here is my progress for the day so far .......

Just waiting for the dull cote to fully dry and then I will give every thing a wash .

Wing halves have also been glued together as well as the wheels . Tomorrow I will be able to clean up the seems on these parts .

I must ammit though , I really don'y care for this Tamiya glue ....

Hi Terri,
I've built the Hasegawa Typhoon, both the Car door and bubble top versions, it's a very nice kit and you have made an excellent start

Hi Terri-

Do you have a marking scheme in mind yet? There are lots of options for car-doors: white noses, black and white ID stripes, three were used in North Africa in desert camouflage, and a night fighter version.

Yup , took awhile to even post the pic's too !

Here is the finished build . Nothing fancy added , built her out of the box . Had some fit issue which caused this to get shelved and I'm pretty dame confident it was my own undertaking of this matter .

The panel lines got a pin wash using Vallejo black and plain old water with further weathering using pastels , did go over board on the gun powered staining , but I like it .

The markings are fictional on the most part , it has sentimental meaning in memory of my Dad . Prop blades hard hand painted with Vallejo paints , well the black is . What I like about this paint is thin it with water a bit and it brush paints beautifully with not brush strokes .

With out further ado ..........

Beautiful build of one of the best kits in 1/48th.

This is one kit that always seems to be a cut above.

That white nose is very distinctive- I always loved that giant chin radiator on this brute. Wonderful build, Terri- cheers!

Nicely done! The only Typhoon experience Ive had is one of the monogram kits 20 odd years ago and I was then, as now, in love with the look of the aircraft, its reputation in ground attack and the way cool british green/gray camo. At that point Id never seen such a cool aircraft and the result was one of my best models for many years after. Ive never had much knowledge regarding this or its sister the Tempest, but today Ive learned about the "car door" variant, so despite some grouting sores, its a good day. Thanks alot for sharing

Thanks for the kind comments , it warms the heart

Chuck , it's one of the features which draws me to me to it , just has that mean sinister . Like a shark with his jaws wide open !

Mike , the cardoor version has always been one of my favorites among British fighters . I luck out on getting this kit . Was either e-vil bay or a traded . Still might add some seat belts if I can ever get a set . I pick up Revell's kit of the Hawker Tempest MK V in 72 scale which I plan on scribing the panel lines , scratching the coockpit or resin set with other mods made to it .

Glad you guy's like the build .......

Nice build, Terri...
I'd say that you went too much with MG staining, while too low with exhaust, but nevertheless it looks good
I also prefer this car-door version, but never had a chance to get one... The only Typhoon I made was an ancient Airfix kit, some 25 years ago...
