I do have that M-82 engine conversion from antares it looks lovely, have built many of his kits. For myself I am going to build the Fw 190C-0 (V20/U1) which was designed for the Höhenjäger II contract. A Fw C with the high altitude wings of the Ta series and the DB 603La engine. This is a R.V. Resin conversion, obtained it before he went to CMR

Hi Trevor,
I am not refering to the Antares conversion set. That would be far too simple for my build. My intention is to scratch everything besides the Karaya's resin ASh-82 engine. Antares set is (I believe) very nice, but it doesn't offer much in terms of superdetailing. I am still considering the idea, and we will see what comes out of it. One of the serious obstacles is lack of detailed references for this particular machine (technical drawings etc.).

Hi Guys
These campaign thingys are so DAMN addictive! I'm in! The Butcher bird has to be my most favoured of Luftwaffe offerings there's just something about these birds! I'm doing the Airfix/MPC offering in 1/24th scale.

@Marc: some nice afties there... Well, I see that the interest for the nightfigters is not a problem. However, if you are building an R-11 machine, I will consider switching to Fritz Krause's A-6/R-11 "white 11" 1./NJGr 10. However, it might be interesting to have both machines (A-8 and A-6) in this campaign. Or I will just go with the ASh-82 conversion.
@Chris: big birdie!! I like that...

@Entoni: Yeah and I thought it might be fun to document how I get around the 6mm overhang of the cooling fan and Spinner. I've seen so much written about it when I was researching the kit but you never picture it clearly till you've got the pieces in your hand and you're figuring out just where you can shave off the excess. Besides I LOVE this aircraft, so much so I want to buy the worlds biggest kitset............ the Flugwerks FW190D-9! (If I had the 550 000 euro's to spare!) The previous A8 kitset funnily enough makes use of the Ash82 engine!
Anyone know of a decal manufacturer that makes decals for this monster? The Airfix kit is a little light on stencils and I think that there are some interesting camo schemes I could do if I make it an F or G variant.

The only company I can think of is hannants and their own line xtradecals, they do have a selection of large decals.
Posted: Monday, September 26, 2011 - 01:27 AM UTC
Hannants 1/24 Decals this is all they seem to have at the moment, but all can see for the Fw 190 is the Airscale instruments and the Xtradecal Luftwaffe Swastikas.
The other option is to find the aircraft you want to do and ask Mal (Miracle Masks) to custom make you some.

I fully agree with Trevor and Allen... besides the Xtradecal, didn't stumble upon such a big decal sheet. I would prefer masking, but you'll have to find your own way.
Cheers,

@Allen: yes the thought had crossed my mind as a model of this scale would lend itself well to painting the insignia. The stencils maybe not so much, but who knows? Might be time to invest in some inkjet decal paper and print my own?
@Entoni: Yes I will definitely find my own way that's what makes this exercise so enjoyable!
my thanks to everyone else I'll keep my eye's on evilbay as well who knows some Trumpeter stencils might just crop up!

When it comes to the stencils itself, you might also check the Hobby Decal range here or elsewhere. I haven't tried it myself, but you may also ask for an opinion from those who used them.

I also remebered that you might be lucky to find the dry transfers from Hobby Decal. You have fine review of the product here. I have their dry transfers for Bf-109 and FW-190 in 1/48, but I haven't used them yet. The only thing I can tell you is that they are superbly printed and very crisp. Once they're applied, I believe, they must be very convincing.

@Entoni: Thanks for that! It's exactly what I was looking for! Now I just need for them to have stock of them! I'll actually keep an eye on eBay now that I know what I'm looking for.

Hi Guys thought it might be time to update my build. I've got a set of Eagle strike decals for three birds AND stencils for one aircraft, JG51, an UFF2 A/C of Walter Kuhne and the JG54 A/C of Walter Nowotny. As well as a set of Airscale instrument decals which should improve the look of the cockpit immensely! Can't wait to get this one started!! Good luck to us all!

I've got two kits available for this one... The good old super simple Tamiya A3 and a kit I won in the monthly subsrciber drawing, a Dragon Ta 152C-1/R14. I'm tempted to have a go at the 152, but I've got a lot on my plate and don't want to add another Hangar Queen to the collection... Still a couple of weeks to decide I guess...

Some great kits for this campaign.
I have found an old kit in the stash that I will build for this campaign. I might still change my mind and go with one of the Eduard kits, but so far this is my plan.....so far

Just a reminder all that you need to post a pic of your intended build including any aftermarket items, only a few days to go before we kick off!
Just have to get a Beaufighter finished and off the bench myself....

If it's a must then here's what I'm going to enter with: a typical Dragon C-0 and the CMK DB-603 engine. All other correction of the engine aparature and correct coolants in nose will be made from scratch.

With Kick off tomorrow I just wanted to wish everyone the best with their builds!
I have spent the day sorting out what i have and now intend to start 4 yes FOUR different 190's in 1/48 scale.
Heres the plan. pics to come:
Fw190 D11 (Eduard weekend edition) with True details seat and markings from a Komman Deur Limited Edition Decals!
Tamiya F8 with another True Details seat and markings from a Tally Ho sheet for a F8 assigned to St.III/SG 10. with rare RLM 83 Mottles on a RLM 76 Fuselage..
Tamiya A8/R8 kit used to make a A8/R11 with the conversion set from OWl Decals, on top of this there is a corrected rudder and cowling parts from Eagle Parts.
Finally a Hasegawa A7 with markings from an JG 300 outfit with the FuG 217 Neptun Radar as shown in my original posting....
If I get the time (Not likely) I'd love to have a crack at my EduardA8/R2 kit....
I still need to get my hands on some of the RLM paint when the local hobby stores re-open from thier Christmas shutdown. i will be using Tamiya and Mr hobby paints throughout.
Have fun and keep posting so we can all learn from your builds.
