I just noticed that the campaign was approved. I'm really stoked for this one! Littorio introduced me to this scale not too long ago and I'm finding that it's tons of fun, not as easy as you may think, pretty easy on the wallet, and ther are tons of kits out there! ( although I'm having problems finding quality WWI kits...)
Here's a pic of my BF109 F-4 that I'm building right now:
I'm glad there was enough interest to get this approved...
gonna start surfing for a worthy kit right now!!!

Ray! Check out the Sram range of resin kits if you like 1/144 WW1 stuff, Hannants (hope the link works, you should get to the search results for Sram), there is enough to keep you busy for a while. I have one of them, a Sopwith Triplane that comes in a package smaller than a matchbox !

I'm in, just got a call from my local hobby store that a 1/144 Avenger kit came in so I am picking that up. I'll put it in my stash till the campaign starts.

I'm in with the only 1/144 aircraft kit I have: DML's Sukhoi Su-22M4 (unless you count Revell's 1/144 Mir Space Station).

Ahh Ray I know the feeling, I keep looking at that kit and thinking to myself can I justify paying that much for a kit? Mind you it is no small item and if you would need to transport it you would need a roof rack for the car. That would turn a few heads as you drive past

I'm thinking for the campaign I might try my hand at a civilian aircraft, the 737-800 TUIfly "GoldbAIR"...
Littorio! you have to share your sources for aftermarket goodies in 1/144! especially decals... I have a bunch of the god awful Lee kits that I would like to make presentable in some way!

Thanks! Right now I'm working on the F4-E kit. Are there some nice Luftwaffe decals out there? The canopy is horrible too! I might be able to fix it by sanding away the molded frames and polishing it if aftermarket canopies aren't available.

Ray, the only Luftwaffe Phantom decals I know of (could be wrong) are these F-4F ones from Liliput but so far I have had no luck contacting them for the decals I want to purchase from them, may be you will have better luck. No replacement canopies that I'm aware of but Matador do some white metal cockpits. If memory serves me though the cockpit for the F-4 consists of seats and pilots but nothing else where as others in the range are a cockpit, not detailed but better than the kit and being metal you don't need the extra nose weight.
Hope that gives you something to work with.

Hi everyone! I am new to Aeroscale but have been modeling for some time. I just read this thread on a 1/144 build and I could not resist. I have been modeling 1/144 airliner and real space kits for many years but have recently started to collect the very cool military and civilian aircraft in this scale. I think joining this Campaign will be a great start in participating in this website.
I plan on building a 1/144 F-15J using the Arii (ex-LS) kit. The main reason is that I have a few of these kits in my stash and each one contains 3 kits! I also have some of the great MYK decals so I am not sure if I will go with the kit decals or aftermarket decals for this first build. I also might do a second build for a Phantom using one of the Lilliput decals.
In a related note, where would be the best thread on Aeroscale for asking 1/144 model related questions? Being new I am not yet familiar with the lay of the land.
Have fun modeling!
Mike

Hi Mike,
Welcome to Aeroscale
There really isn't a dedicated 1/144 forum. The fora are broken up by era (a legacy of Armourama) rather than by subject, so just ask in the forum your model fits into.
It's nice to have another airliner nut around

Hmm well I seem to have a Revell 'Haribo' airliner on the way. Two firsts in one campaign 1st small aircraft and 1st airliner.
I think January is going to be a busy month for me building wise

Watch out for the engines and winglets in that kit, and apparently the main landing gear is too tall. Otherwise it's a fantabulous little model.

Thanks Jessica! I appreciate the welcome and also the overview of how things are structured here. Coincidently, I owe you some thanks for my presence here on Aeroscale! I came across an airliner review that you did (DC-9) which caused me to take a better look at Aeroscale as I thought that any site that would host such an outstanding review must be pretty cool! So here I now be.
I am looking forward to contributing to this build and other forums as I get more familiar with Aeroscale.
Have fun modeling!
Mike
