OK I know, you must think Im insane.
I have to wait for my decals for my Dr.I anyway.
So here we have the old Revell Spad Kit in 1/28, this one was made in 1996 and the mold was still good.
I wanted to really get into rigging, and after all that I have seen here, Im very impressed.
I have actually researched this project and found an interesting subject, and no its not American.
I plan on building the Spad No. 7 of the SPA 48 flown by Capt Jacques Roques.

Yep, I have 2 Camels, 2 Dr I, and 1 Spad, and a D.VII.
Thats just off the top of my head, like I need anymore.
And for trivia Hobbycraft 1/28th is a reissue of Revell, dont go by th box top art, the Dr.I is the Baron's plane not that flying circus bird depicted.

OK here is an update on the engine
I have the basic engine done minus the airframe plumbing.
This is streight from the kit and not to bad, I have excelent photos to work with.
This is the top with the intake manifold, it was painted with a black block and Light Grey cylinder heads and Black valve cover.
Now the important parts, I ordered Toms Model Works PE and it is truely fantastic, but not for this aircraft.
The cockpit detail set is more for the Neuport 17, and the wingtip set is for a very early Spad XIII.
But fear not, some very good parts can be had from these sets.
For example, the wingtip set has an awsome side grill for both sides of the aircraft.
The cockpit set has some great seatbelts and the throttle control can be used, and of course all the insturment bezels, which you will need.
Thanks for taking the time to read this, Ill post more as I get along
And I promise to get a real camera

A little hard to see, but the motor looks good.
Are you going to wire the plugs, or do the bare minimum and seal it up?

Hi Todd
Excellent progress, my friend.
It would also appear that you certainly had more fun last weekend than I did-I ended up laying down linoleum tile in our basement.
Nice job on the Nieuport.

Great build Todd! The engine shots didn't come out though...might wanna check the Photobucket links. How did you take the pictures of the final product? Looks like it's in the air! Well, except for the stationary propeller
