A new 1:32 wonder from Roden is the first in a series of WWI Nieuport fighters.
# 611 Nieuport 24 bis in 1/32 scale Nieuport 24bis – French fighter of the WWI period, developed by Gustave Delage from its predecessor Nieuport 24.

Hi Stephen
Thank You for the peek – this looks like an interesting kit – like Mark, I think the marking options look like something a bit out of the usual that I'd like to take a closer look at.
Best Regards
Mikael

As I said in the "What can we expect in 2011" thread, I am looking forward to all of the rounded fuselage Nieuports in this scale! The markings do indeed look interesting but I will probably do a Lafayette Escadrille bird with my 24bis.

Very interesting yes but I have to say I'll approach this release with caution till someone confirms a redress of the quality issues that seemed to plague the Tripehound. So I look forwards to some sprue shots too Stephen.

Keith,
That is a good point but I tend to be more optimistic. So far IIRC, the Triplane was the only kit produced that seemed to suffer not only from inaccurate shape/ length, but also short shots and other issues. I think Roden has a fairly good track record overall, and even with the Sopwith some really nice work has been done utilizing their kits.

I had a query on the "Diana" marked Nieuport. Here from my Portfolio #3 is my 1:48 version using the old Hi-Tech fuselge & Eduard wings & etc.
These "Diana" Decals were given to me from Craig Johnson of "Chandelle" fame.
Nieuport 24bis 5086 The Nieuport 24 bis kept the altered fuselage and wings but reverted back to the Nieuport 17 and 21 vertical and horizontal tail surfaces. This kit represents a Nieuport 24 bis N5086 flown originally in the 4th Artillery cooperative squadron in the Red Russian Air Service. It was photographed after capture on a railroad flat car in the ancient capital of Lithuania- “Vilnius”. It was later flown by the 5th Polish Air Service squadron by Julius Gilewicz. This is the Hi-Tech Nieuport 24-27 conversion kit with Eduard Nieuport 17 parts.

Sprue shots up today!

I seem to have trouble when posting links on this forum so someone will undoubtably have to fix this one
RAGIII
PS: worked the first time! Looks nice, 3 upper fuselage options for different gun placements, nice looking engine cowling, and both tail types!(24 and 24bis) I am ready to start building!

This is looking pretty sweet to my eye – I have a half finished Nie 17 in my stash –perhaps a dual build with this one in the future?
Oh and that Diana Nie 24 looks great Stephen!

Like a few I'm looking forwards to your first findings on this Stephen. How is the finish, no hidden till painted glitches on the wing surfaces and such I hope?
I do say the sprue shots look good, lots of detail and options there. If the standard of production has risen a pair of these at least will be nice to break up the row of iron crosses in my display cabinet.
Keith

I have to say it has great possiblities and the surfaces of my example is finely moulded. I can tell you they are planning an RFC version too.
