Hello everybody,

Yes, I actually finally finished one of my slow moving builds – WNWs RE.8. This must be their hardest kit to date. Although everything fitted well, there was just something that made it a bit harder to put together. It has been noted here before, that the instructions have to be read very carefully, especially on all the bits in the interior.

Anyway, even though I feel I could have improved some things (lets face it there is no such thing as a perfect build), I'm still pleased I have this oddly shaped two seater in my collection now. Here are some pics:

This build will feature in one of the coming issues of the Swedish Hobby magazine "Allt om Hobby" Where I've written an article on how to rig a biplane.

Thank You for looking – comments are as always most welcome

Mikael,
Beautiful, as usual! Your subtle approach to weathering features (just the right amount here and there) gives a degreee of realism we all strive for and seldom achieve; I really like the exhaust stains on the upper wing for example.
Compliments on a really nice build!
Cheers,
Lance

Mikael

She is magnificent. I can only hope to approach it in quality whenever I build mine.

What did you use for rigging and turnbuckles?

Lance, Marc and Dennis – Thank You very much for your kind words – they warm me up on a very cold winters morning.

Dennis, I used Bobs buckles with brass tubes. The rig itself is mix of EZ wire and 0,15mm fishing line. I feel I want the structural integrity that the fishing line offers, so I did the main wires with this. The EZ was used between the cabanes and as control wires.

Best Regards

Mikael

Hello Mikael:

Very nicely done, as has been mentioned here your weathering is just the right touch and enhances the overall finish of the model. I am debating whether or not I want this kit. Its uniqueness and yeoman serviceis what attracts me to it, but it just hasn't won me over yet. Good luck with the article for the magazine. What did you find difficult about it?

Best

Stephen, Krzysztof, and Mark – Thank You so very much for your kind comments.

Mark – well, the difficulty to me was partly in all the options for the interior – you have to really scrutinize the instructions not to miss any small details. You are instructed to put the engine in with the exhausts on, which makes buttoning the fuselage together a tighter than usual job. When installing the engine and exhausts you need line everything up really well – especially if you want to put the engine panels on.

Once these steps were done – it was pretty straightforward, and it does build up very nicely. Struts line up well, and everything fit is good.

If you're thinking of getting one – do. I think the quirky look is great one myself.

Thank You for your kind words Dani and Louis –

@ Dani – there is no such thing as perfect work, unfortunately I did loads of mistakes on her – but I'm not telling wich

@ Louis – I'm planning to do a base vignette for her – perhaps a figure too – we'll see. I'd love to show some more pictures – but I have delivered most of then to the magazine, so I don't feel I can show them all here as well – sorry.

Best Regards

Mikael
