Beautiful work Magnus, your level of detailing and weathering in seventy-tooth scale is always a joy to behold.

With every step its getting better and better. Nice to see such a frequent updates.

In my opinion, that slender landing gear with that big fat prop is what makes this plane so impressive.

Magnus,

Beautiful job! Kurt Tank would be proud of your production line -- no wonder they built 20,000 FW's!

Michal! I'll muster what courage I have and will try your's and Jessica's trick tonight (had to work yesterday, takes far too much of my modelling time... )

Damian, Jose and Jelger! Thanks! And those updates are a motivation for me to keep the pressure up in the project...

Frederick! Production line is behind schedule since two airframes are on hold due to a labour shortage !

So, that's it for now!

Prop got a dose of light pigment and the rest of the small parts were attached yesterday. Antenna wire starts inside the cockpit and runs through a drilled hole in the canopy. According to my references aircraft with this kind of head armour still had the mechanism that kept the antenna wire taut, the ones with the more "massive-looking" structure are the ones with the sagging wire.

I'll come back to the other two aircraft later this spring, now it's time for a pair of Vampires!

This one is now in the the collection!

Magnus,

A loud applause for this Focke-Wulf.

The fine antenna a great grand final of this build. What do you use for antenna wire? Stretched sprue?

And are the lower antennas made from PE? They look very thin.

Next build the vampire T11?

Thanks for the applause (Magnus bowing deeply, or as deeply as my hurting muscles after 21 km on iceskates this afternoon allows )!

I tried my usual stretched sprue but it doesn't take bending very well, it broke where it exits the canopy. So this is thin fishing line, another of those things I have had in the stash for the better part of a decade without trying it. It came in handy now!

Antennae are PE, just about the only parts I used from an absolutely humungous Eduard sheet that cost me a small fortune ! Enough metal to build a small naval vessel in that. OK, I didn't buy it at gunpoint so nobody else to blame but me .

Finally, teaser in my previous posting has now been updated to a link: Vampire was a good guess Jelger!

Hi Magnus, the Aoshima kit I have had before, just didn't finish it. It is a fine model, better than the DML kit in 72 many believe. I hope to do a review of it when it comes in. Russell

So, it's been some time since last update... Now I'll finish these!

Coming back to this thread feels sad and a bit strange since Russell who followed my build with such enthusiasm isn't with us anymore.

yes, it did feel strange to see this in my in-box this morning, but I'm glad I took a look. Very neat modelling (as usual Magnus..) and a thought for Russell too..

Neil and Gary! Thanks for keeping me company !

It immediately looks a lot better standing on it's own legs!

I'm usually too lazy to open up stuff but in this case everything that was needed was included in the kit so it didn't feel right to do it with a closed cowling.

Has it really been 4 years? I remember these very well and have enjoyed ought the thread once again after this time.

Looking forward to the next chapter (a bit like Star Wars with the long wait between!).

Magnus,
you always impress me with your ability to make small things look great. The stencils on the engine support arms and the landing gear add some great detail and depth.

Damian! Welcome to the final episode !

Gary! Thanks! I actually did try to raise the bar a bit on these, especially since there was a lot included in the box that made it a bit easier to go for that "detailed look" !

So, one piece of finished Ta-152H...

...and one piece of finished Ta-152C...

So, what are the conclusions? Those Dragon kits aren't neither "easy builds", nor what I would consider "good models" but they represent a major reach for the stars that probably ended up slightly short of the moon model-wise ! I like the details a lot but I could live without the fit issues...

If I did another one, there is one thing I would try to fix accuracy-wise: the rear end of the fuselage where it transforms into the fin is rather fat and the fin is also very thick, so much so that it is readily apparent in the finished kit. Apart from that I think they look good, which is usually good enough for me !

A final family portrait...

...and now we can retire this!

Amd finally, they have now been added to the collection.

Veeery nice Magnus!
Followed up the build for a while, looks absolutely great!
As I'm fighting with a ex-Dragon/Trimaster Fw190-kit (now Revell)for ETO-Campaign I now what you mean...

Did you use the Cameo plotter for painting the markings?

A great family portrait!

It's skill and patience that are rewarded by the final appearance.

Thomas! I have heard that the 1/48 ones are even worse than the smaller ones! Regarding masks: these builds were pre-Cameo so masks were hand-cut using scalpel and Tamiya tape !

Gary! Once again, thanks for your kind words!

Excellent finished Focke Wulfs. I built one of these ones long ago but I still remember the problems of this kit. And You have dealt brilliantly with these flaws. Outstanding built!

Damian and Oliver! Thanks! My main reason for blogging is that I actually enjoy it and also that I sometimes go back to have a look in an old build just like a diary. And if the blog can be of help for someone else building the same kit it's an added bonus !
