Hi folks,

Here is my first for 2012 - the Revell Nieuport 28 in 1:72 scale. This is an old kit - the moulds were first produced back in the 1960s. Modifications include a re-shaped and modified cowl, re-skinned aft fuselage, scratch built cockpit (the kit had none to speak of), modified undercarriage, and some new wheels, plus other bits and pieces. She is painted in the markings of a machine from "B" Flight, 95th Aero Squadron, USAS, mid 1918. The progress photos are here:

All feedback welcomed!

this 72 looks like 48. Painting was not so easy to perform but you managed! Great 3D replica!

Brad – what a great start to your modeling year – hard to belive its so small in size when I see your detailing and paint job!

Hope to see much more from your desk during 2012

Best Regards

Well done Brad, not just the details, bur I can't see any glue oozes either. How do you get a small bit of glue to go where you want it to?
Did you do the stringers of the re-skinning by pressure from a blunt knife on the inside?
I did this kit OOB in the sixties but this is something else.

Thanks for the nice words guys!

Clive - I use a thin piece of wire stuck into the end of a pencil as a super glue applicator. It does get gummed up with glue over time, but a quick pass over a cigarette lighter flame burns off the old glue and you're back to a nice thin piece of wire again.

On the re-skinned fuselage - I embossed the stringers on 0.005" card using an old ball point pen and a fair amount of pressure. It worked out ok, but I did get the dimensions wrong (the shape was more complex than I thought it would be..!)

Thanks again!

Once again you bring us another master piece !

Very well done Brad , the details in the pit are most excellent and that weathering .......

Not sure if I would have done any detailing on this kit for the fact when I built Rodens kit in 48 scale , you can't see any details in the pit at all ! Well the seat you can but that's about it ...

Cheers my friend
