Hi there,
just started my first large scale project, Hasegawa's 1/32 Ki-44. It's going to be build OOB except the seat belts which came from Eduard. First step as usual is the cockpit.
Thanx for watching, hope you enjoy the build.
greetings ro

There is some nice and clean job here
If only you could trim the seat edges so that it would look thiner...
Anyway, keep her going Mr. Robert

Hi Robert,
everyone seems to build a Shoki at the moment .... Right now, I'm working on Hasegawa's quarterscale kit, which is about half finished (also oob). Which version will you build? Mine will be the one on your box art of Makoto Ogawa. I guess you have also the February issue of ModelFan, right? I have suscribed this thread and will watch your work closely. Good luck!

@Nick: You're right about the edges of the seat, I've drilled out all the holes but those thick edges I noticed the first time I saw the pics on my lap, so at the moment I'm not sure if I should correct it or not

@Torsten: I haven't yet decided which version I will do, the box art one is very nice, maybe I go the painting way instead of using the decals, is there an article in the Modell Fan about the Ki-44, don't have that issue.

This Nak is one of my favourite aircraft of all time. So beautiful, such a sexy bird. Can't wait to see more!

Great start!
Donīt worry about the seat, drilling out the holes
and applying belts should be enough improvement to catch the viewers eyes.
When you finished up this bird you wonīt really recognise the "seat-edges".

Iīll keep on watching ...

Yes, Harald Krumreich shows how he has built his 1/32 Shoki with some extras. I guess it's worth a look.
Btw, I haven't drilled out the holes in the seat of my Shoki ....

Happy modelling!

I actually dug up a book just now. Then another! Couldn't find what I wanted buuuut...

Here it is!

Can there be any question? That has to be the coolest possible scheme. If you don't do it I just might.

@Thomas: I think you're right, this time I'll leave the seat like it is now.

@Torsten: Thanks for your advice about the actual Modell Fan issue, maybe I can find it tomorrow at my LHS.

@Richard: Yes, the Ki-44 is a very nice bird and the paint scheme looks realy cool, but I've never tried mottling with my airbrush.

Today I started on the engine parts. Most of it will be hidden in the end. Tomorrow I'll try to show some pics.
Thanks a lot for all your replies.

Hi there,
tonight just a quick update of the Ki-44. My time for modelling is very limited at the moment so progress is slowly. Anyway I finished the engine and tried for the first time some wiring. Couldn't find the right pics in the net (Ha-109 engine). That's why I don't know if the wiring is correct. But as usual only a little bit can be seen if the cowling is closed.
The build was planned OOB but I found those two goodies from Quickboost and couldn't resist.
greetings ro

Good progress!
Engine looks fine - the wiring gives life (no matter if itīs correct), even if you donīt see much after closing.
Subtile and nice weathering.
The Qiuckboosts will be a good addon
Following up when Iīm back
