well put.
I will not change the seat color or the belts on this build, but will change it to a D model to make the seats fit and will add some belts to the side seats before its all over. One of these days I will get it all correct, but then it will be very boring.
thanks Doug

Doug,

Your work looks wicked. What was the important part of what I just said? 'YOUR' work, as long as your happy that it looks the part and you did your best, thats all that matters in my eyes. My models look terrible next to some on this site but i'm proud of every single one of them. Yeah they don't have the right amount of bolts on the side and I did skip one or two decals but i'm happy with the end result. Crack on mate I can't wait to see how its going to look!

Hey Doug, no matter a few details here and there, it's still looking like a great bird, or whats left of her. The cobra set you used, does it come with the uprights for the stretchers? Also would like to know if the set comes with the jungle penetrator within the set. I have 8 V.N. chopers to do and a dust off is in the future. A real good book if you can find it is Ballentine Press, (paper back) titled, Dust off. Some good write ups and photos. Will be looking forward to seeing more of this bird here, darn good job.

well the Cobra set does not include any medivac stuff just standard Huey parts and no jungle penetrator in the kit. sorry.

There's a lesson to be learned here, and for me, I'll make sure not to nitpick on this site!

No reason not to provide constructive comments, its not nitpicking at all. Without it, the site isn't very useful to help other modelers improve their skills.

Like I said, your model looks great. It just depends on how accurate you want to make it.

Unfortunately, there is no 1/35 MedEvac set for Hueys. There was the now out of production Fireball 1/32 MedEvac sets. It is not hard to make the MedEvac interior though. Here is one I did. There is a jungle penetrator and interior hoist in the 1/35 Academy MH-60G and AH=60L kits. It is what I used on mine above.

The paint job is looking great. Good job on backdating it to a D model as well. Nice.

This looks very cool! Nice work indeed.

Have been wanting to build a model of a WWII wreck I visited in PNG ... You've now inspired me!

working on the rotor head and blades, needed to do a lot to make it look like a wreck and the kit parts are not very detailed so here it is so far.

the real carnage of a helicopter crash is the wings so here is my version of that.

Firures are coming along well.

As to the blades, the one looks too twisted and bent. In my experience, Huey blades tended to splinter and break off as oppoed to twist and bend.

Was "Dork" an actual aircraft?

the helmets came from a figure by a company called Master Casters, I had to do some work on it to make it a helicopter helmet then I made a mold of them and cast them in resin so that I can hollow them out and put them on heads from a company called Hornet
