Well I think it's about time I try and drum up some support for an idea
C'mon guys, just look at these:
Are you made of stone? I'm proposing a golden age of flying boats and seaplanes extravaganza. Think Schneider Trophy, think bright colours. Think
Supermarine.

I think this is a great idea.
it is an opportunity to celebrate a Golden Age.

I love that movie, I'm totally there!
given that a number of the planes in the movie are total fantasy, would the campiagn models have to adhere to ones visible in the film, or could they be any crazily painted flying boat of the interwar period, reffering to the air pirates that is?

Personally I think any float plane should be allowed

If I remember right, Fine Molds makes kits of both Porco's and the American's planes. I truly love this movie although I won't be taking part in this campaign.

Once there are 10 interested, The campaign admins will decide on approving the campaign and when it will start. Just for your information we will currently be looking at a start of around September/October time.

Saw your bumps Allen. I leave start dates etc. in the capable hands of management.
Jonathan, I was careful to put Flyings boats
and Seaplanes in my first post because I knew someone would point this out! It really sticks in my teeth too. There's a
Seabee that sometimes flies around where I grew up and people would say "Oh look at that funny seaplane" and I'd have to grit my teeth.

Hmm,
as a fan of the movie and eagerly awaiting news on if a second Proco Rosso movie will be made I think I will join.
I have a couple of planes (all in 1/144) I can make.

I am already building a Supermarine Southampton for the
Kots2 campaign.
Open this build up to any float/seaplane and you should have enough entrys for a campaign

You can't sign up for this until there are 10 people interested in the campaign (I only count 9 so far)
Once there are enough interested and the campaign submission meets criteria a start and end date will be decided by the campaign staff and approved.
Hope this helps

Should there not be at least a tempory place for the nine to sign up for a campaign of interest until managment gives the Ok?
That way we can see how close we are to an actual campaign.

I said in a post in March that I need to sleep on it (whether I'd join)
I will officially participate. I don't know what I'll do yet- maybe something scratch built, which will be a first for me.

If this is a campaign for seaplanes and flying boats in general, then I am in. If it is only for very certain types depicted in the show, then probably not

Well I did just purchase a Aichi M6 and an A6m2 Rufe. It would be a great excuse to bust one of them out. (I've really been interested in building a seaplane on a dolly for a long time.)
Cheers,

People post a campaign idea and then nothing!

The thread is also a way to see whether the campaign idea will be popular or not. It's democracy in action at its most basic; throw out an idea and see who runs with it. Some campaigns are hugely popular right away, while others need a lot of promoting and still others whither on the vine from lack of interest.
As it happens, this one looks like it has a good chance of achieving the required level of interest. One way of making sure it does is to keep the thread busy and give people ideas.
