That's really nicely done. Now

Looks great, you've done an excellent job with the restrained weathering!

A very nice build Les. Your weathering is quite minimal and I like it very much. Are you planning some more Japanese subjects in the future? Russell

Thanks for the feedback Jessica, Doug, and Russell!
Jessica,
I might enter the MOM but I must take some new pics first.
Russell,
There are a few kits of Japanese planes in my stash so there will some builds of them in the future...the next Japanese plane will be a single engined fighter most likely a Jack since it has caught my eye a few times while looking over my stash.

The Jack is a great looking aircraft, here are a couple photos of mine in 1/72 scale, it is the older Hasegawa kit. Russell

Nice looking Jack (and base) Russell!
The kit I have is an older Tamiya kit and bought years ago when it was on sale. Its not bad looking for being such an old and should make into a fair looking model. It has a standing pilot figure included which looks pretty good and will paint it up and use it in new pics of the Nakajima.

That is some of the flattest flat coating I've seen.
What did you use to get the finish so flat?

Ken,
I like using Xtracolor Flat Clear and thats what was used here.
Since I was trying to do a very sun faded finish I wanted a dead flat look to the uppersurfaces, usually on my models of WWII aircraft I give them a flat finish with just a hint of a sheen to them with only the exhaust stains pure dead flat.

Les, that's a nice Gekko there. Well done! This kit also sleeps in my stash since a few years. I should go for it (as for so many others ....

) I mainly build aircrafts of the PTO and meanwhile about 25 % in my stash are Japanese ....

I don't know how the Tamiya-Raiden kit is, but last year I've build the
Hasegawa kit. Do I see a Ginga in the background of pics 3 and 9????

And is it in 1/48?
Happy modelling!
Torsten

Thanks very much Torsten!
The aircraft in the background is not a Ginga, its a Ki-83 what-if built from the 1/72 scale Special Hobby kit.
I did some dry fitting of the older Tamiya Jack kit, the fit is not that great and found out it has a mix of raised and recessed panel lines...I only opened up the box to snag the standing pilot figure so I can paint it up but after doing the dry fitting I am thinking about building it this year after my 1/32 scale Dora is finished.

Les,
Awesome job! The silver pencil chipping is superb!
The 'drippy' tail code and the 'touched-up' fuselage hinomaru -- great touch!

Thanks Fred!
Glad you noticed some of the smaller details I added to the finish of this model. Inspiration came from the Meatballs and Dead Birds book.
I am just now starting to paint the standing pilot figure that was taken from the older Tamiya Jack kit, when its finished I plan to post a pic of the pilot next to the Gekko.
