Greetings gentle folk,

We need some ideas. While I could throw out beau coup possibilities lets have a go at seeing what you find inspiring.

Out of production kits
main stream kits
1 type of aircraft build
Central powers only
Allied powers only
Between the wars only
Russian only
Finnish only
Latvian only
Resin only vacuforms
Vacuform kits only
Prototypes only build (kit crashes or kit form)

Hi Stephen,

It would be great to participate, whatever the subject... Since you need ideas, the gun synchronization mechanism was patented in 1913, so we have the 100th anniversary... why not the syncro-campaign?

All the best,

How about picking a year, and have a GB around that one year.

All aircraft flying of any nation flying during that year. Could be a new in service aircraft, or an older one used in training for example, or a prototype of a new aircraft.

It would be interesting to see more builds of Austro-Hungarian variations of the Albatross and Fokkers.

I like the "one type" theme. As Keith says any scale, any medium etc. etc. The DVII (if released by WNW) would fit nicely. Others that come to mind are the Fokker E Series well covered in all scales and certainly the Albatros D Versions.
Cheers,
Lance

Hi all,

Lots of good suggestions so far... I especially like the pusher and DVII suggestions.

– Here are some more (in any scale or medium of course):

Early aces 1914 - 1916
Albatrossen
Kriegsmarine vs RNAS
Two seaters

How about Austro-Hungarian? These seems to be very under-represented everywhere...

Hi,

KotS on the floats?

To be honest, I like any of the suggested ideas (though Fokker D.VII and Austro-Hungarian fit within my framework)

Hello !
The Kriegsmarine vs RNAS sounds great, but I see sense in Austro-Hungarian ....

Why not do " Opposing naval planes " so either could be accomodated?

How about the 1919-1923 period?

Polish
Bolshovic
White Russian
RAF
German
French
and that's just Europe

Late War Everything; Albatros, DeHaviland, Fokker, Handly Page, Curtiss, Sikorsky, LVG, Rumpler, Junkers.

Oh the Markings, oh the schemes.

Think about it. Love those Polish Albatroses, those RAF DH9a's.

I like the between the wars idea. The U.S. took delivery of a bunch of Fokker DVII's, they appeared in Howard Hughes "Hells Angels".
There are a lot of marking possibilities with our favorite kits, and then a lot of posibilities.

Best

If we are divided, we should remember that the world is not due to end at Christmas - if we do one subject now, we can do something else in three months time, and so on.
Why not aim for a rolling calender with variety as it's aim:-
Seaplanes now
Then pushers
Then post-war
Then humour ... ( or whatever )

Don't try to do everything at once, but get variety over time.

Between the wars would also open up a whole avenue of civilian subjects! If "Knights of the Sky" conjurs up images of war, I would argue that civilian pilots, in the era of pioneering knowledge and aircraft produced with some lack of knowledge, are just as worthy of praise.
