Hi folks. Just a quick post for those who don't visit the site, to try to drum up some interest . . . . .

Quoted Text

Hi folks. Things around here are waaaaaaay to quiet for my liking, so I think we need to stir things up to start 2013 with a whole bunch of Jugs on everybody's benches. I am proposing an open P-47 group build, any scale, any variant, any nationality and theatre, pretty much whatever you want as long as it's a Thunderbolt ! If we start on January 1, and run it for 8 months, there is a slim chance that Nige and I might even get a chance to contribute something for a change. Please note that I said MIGHT !

Anyway, who's up for it ?

Well Richard, it looks like it might be just you and I on this journey mate, 100 views between the two threads and only one reply. There are quite a few Campaigns on at present, so perhaps folks are just a bit wary about putting their hands up for another.

I built that Smithsonian kit a couple of years back, and it went together quite well. The glossy silver plastic is a bit scary though, I had problems with the masking pulling the paint up a couple of times, so I would recommend giving the whole kit a good rough-up to give the paint something to key in to.

Hi Damian
Thanks for the heads up on the plastic.
I have a campaign running with 13 in it and a campaign request for Classic Douglas DC1-DC7 lot's of reads but only 7 or 8 interested so far and the campaign is open to civil and military variants,I have been told that if its a campaign WWII with a German tilt that it signs up quickly.

I have considered this carefully and I feel that you have too many ribbons already. I think you should return a few.

Thanks for joining in Jesper, it's always good to have you on board. I promise I will have that other ribbon for you soon, maybe even before this next GB finishes !

Bump and recruitment update:

1. Your truly
2. Lampie (coz silence is taken as affirmative)
3. Tinbanger (gone mad and will attempt a dual-build, without a safety net!)
4. Camogirl (will likely raid Tomcat's stash and preserve her own)
5. Tomcat31 (kindly enlisted by Camo, not sure if he is even aware yet !!)
6. Jesper (long time Group Build junkie)
7. Holdfast (work in progress, but I want to watch him work those masks !)

Cheers, D

Edit: In the interest of getting as many contributors as possible, I am going to allow "Hangar Queens" for this Group Build. Line them up guys and gals, let's get some action going for the new year.

Bump time again folks, since the world didn't end we can move forward now.

I've had a couple of requests for a later start, and that might help to rally more troops, so we are now looking at a Feb-Sept 2013 run time for this Group Build.

The enlistment page should be up shortly, so I will link it here as well as on the SIG thread.

Group Build Enlistment page HERE

Please note that the title has change to avoid confusion with the Aeroscale Campaign already set up and enlisting by Camogirl. We are now "Thunderbolts Are Go (2013)!"

Time for Reggies regular BUMP and recruitment update. Details can be found in the SIG Forum thread HERE

Up to 15 enlisted now, don't forget we are accepting "Hangar Queens" for this Group Build. If you have a WIP P-47 in any scale, from just started to almost finished, here's your chance to get it finished and get a ribbon for your efforts, and you have 8 months to grind your way through it !

Only a couple of weeks until the starter's gun, come and join the fun.

Cheers, D
