A friend of mine gave me a number of years ago the Revell 1/72 scale Lockheed F-104C Starfighter; so I thought I would break down and actually build it. It isn't what I would call a great kit but not too bad either. I thought I would share it with you. It is painted with Vallejo aluminum and Model Master Acryl white.
I haven't built a "modern" jet in some years so I thought I would break the mold so to speak and try one. Hope you enjoy looking. Russell

Russell,
XYZ -- "X"-pose Your 'Zipper'! ("Zipper" is a nickname for the F-104.) Looks good. Valejo paints, correct?
Pop quiz: where and how were the last F-104s belonging to USAF destroyed by enemy attack?

I don't really know, but I would guess in Vietnam ....?
Russell, well done on your Starfighter, my friend! Looks really good! But what happened to the canopy (pics 3+4)?
I'm also not so keen on jets as you know. But once a year one lands on my workbench. But no Starfigher yet, though I have 2 in my stash ....

Hi Torsten, well, I must admit, I brush paint my canopies with as fine a brush as I can use. I then use a toothpick to remove any extra paint, I don't think it looks quite as good as some, not sure if that is what you are referring too.
Jose, if you would like to post a photo of a 104 on this thread go right ahead. I would enjoy seeing it.
I normally don't build many jets, but am in the mood as of late. I notice that Emhar has released a Lockheed F-94C Starfire in 72 scale! I would like to get that aircraft model and build it next. Take care, Russell
P.S. I'm afraid I don't know the answer to your question Torsten, you've got me I'm afraid! LOL

Thanks to everyone who has liked my F-104!! I need to build some more jets; that WWII aviation has a strong pull for me though. We will see what crosses my model table next. Again thanks to one and all for the kind words. Russell

Thought I would show off some more shots of the 104 now that all the white glue, visible in some of the photos around the canopy, has finally dried. LOL Russell

That was it what I meant, Russell. Looks much better now! Sorry, if I got you "on the wrong foot" ....
You can easily glue canopies to the fuselage using a toothpick for the white glue (I call it furniture glue), so there won't be many excrescent drops of it, which you can also easily take away before the glue is dry. I do this all the time with my canopies.

No problem there Torsten, I tend to rush sometimes at the end of a model, getting too excited I guess, need to let everything dry first! LOL Thanks, Russell

Hi Torsten,
It was destroyed (or 'damaged beyond repair') by terrorists in Puerto Rico on 12 January 1981. They also destroyed 10 A-7s.
