WOW, it's hard to find de Havilland kits on this end of the pond. One LHS only had a Tiger Moth and a Chipmunk. Now they only have the Tiger Moth. The other LHS I dropped in on, I didn't see any (wasn't looking too hard by then).
Whatever, I'm in.
Roden makes some nice DH's. And I think Sprue Brothers carries them.

Well, thanks for the heads up, but the Chipmunk was on my short list for this campaign. Old school Airfix is a bonus (I think).

Do any of our graphically-inclined have ideas for the campaign ribbon?

Just a quick thought. How about trying the obvious shape and twin props of a mosquito, head on.

Or maybe use the De Havilland logo??

I like the DH design. How about the DH circle superimposed over the RAF blue and red roundel?

That might overpower the logo when it gets reduced to small size

I like the one shown, just the logo and ribbon. Also as DH's are were flown in other countries, the RAF Roundel limits it.

what about the aircraft white inside of the profile and make the ribbons wider to touch the DH circle?

That was tricky, because I had to "seal" the gaps between the logo outline and the letters before I could flood in the background colour, leaving the logo outline white. I'm not sure whether I like it as much.

Have one 1/48 Mosquito to build, and soon some 1/72 as well, so count me in on this one.

Good work jessica!
How about a combo of the two:- AC in white and ribbon size same as your first design?

This is an interesting campaign to become involved in. I have a few in mind, Hornet, Comet and its' late stage development the Nimrod if I can find it in a small enough scale.

I just thought I would post a few pics that show my inspiration for this particular campaign:
This is the De Havilland Campus of the University of Hertfordshire, where I studied Model Design and Special Effects. The Campus was built on the site of the De Havilland works. When the factory buildings were being demolished to make way for the university, the site was used for the filming of Band of Brothers. I used to walk past the statue every day to get to the studio, so it was bound to have an inspiration on my work!

I'm thinking that last ribbon is nicely done as well.
Lee, I really like that plaque in your photos!

It seems as if this here armor guy is going to "correct his deficiency" and give AC modeling a try. I just ordered Trumpeter's Vampire Mk. 9 for this campaign. Does anybody know anything about this kit ?
Thanks in advance and have a good weekend all !

I haven't seen it myself, but judging by
this thread over on Britmodeller, you're in for either a lot of correction work, or you'll risk ending up with a model which looks like a Vampire-shaped balloon
Apparently the best Vampire going is still the expensive Alley Cat Resin kit.
Of course if you don't care too much about the shape, it'll be a nice easy build because it's said to fit quite well.

Thanks Jessica for the link. The fuselage looks really out of scale. No way I can throw it into the clothes dryer and shrink it
In the one photo the top half and bottom half look different sizes but again it's just dry fitted so hopefully that won't be an issue either. Gosh, maybe I should have picked up the old Hobby Craft Vampire at my LHS for cheap.
Thanks again for your help.
