Count me in! I just happened to acquire the kit a couple of weeks ago, got a good deal on Evil Bay. The Vamp and the Airfix 1/72 Tornado F3 for £12. I was very happy until it arrived and I saw how bad the F3 is - tons of flash, useless decals, no wheel bay details etc. Never mind though, I'll probably give it to my nephew who is just starting the hobby - hope it doesn't put him off model making!

That just goes to show you the difference 25 or so years worth of improvement in mould making technology does for our hobby.

Still need three yeses!
Anyone who's interested here's a banner!
The more the better, we'll never get airfix's attention without numbers! I'm especially interested in luring in some non-aero modellers. I may go over to armorama and goad them a bit

We may have hit upon a supply and demand snag. Magnus reports that Airfix has run out of Vampires at the moment. If you see an Airfix Vampire in your local hobby shop it may be a good idea to grab it as soon as possible.

OK, Ive been watching, I'll go along with this.
The campaign is likely to start after the new year 2014, I guess, considering how many campaigns we have on already.
By then perhaps Airfix will have made up a special run of Vampire kits just for us with extra goodies..

Yeah this must be 2014. We need the full six months, I want people to pull out all the stops!
Not that there isn't a good deal of time to hammer things out... But on the matter of rules I have these thoughts.
All comers welcome, including staff members. But prizes only awarded to non-staff competitors. So if Rowan say got first in the voting, the first spot prize would go to the second place winner etc. Just to keep things above board.
PE and resin permitted. But The airframe must be from the source kit. In this case the booms, fuselage, wings and rear stabilizers. All moveable control surfaces, interiors, canopy, jetpipe and landing gear are open to change.
These ones I think may be controversial and would warrant discussion:
No conversion to other types. So no making it a Mk.II or F.3 or a Venom. Only T.11 and T.55's.
What if's??? I can't decide. I was thinking maybe, but only for countries that had Vampires but never T.55's...
No dio's or figures. This would include pilots for wheels down builds (if you go wheels up I would permit one of the airfix supplied pilots). My thinking here being that s a competition, we want focus entirely on the technique and build and not on additionals.
Finally, the more recruits the better! If it comes down to it I'll buy a prize for the first place winner. But I'd rather be able to get Airfix's attention and have them pitch in!

As of 4/27/13 Hobbylinc has some Airfix Vampires in stock for $7.38 plus shipping http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/arx/arx02058.htm

I am reviewing the new 1/72 DML Vampire next week hopefully.............We may have hit upon a supply and demand snag. Magnus reports that Airfix has run out of Vampires at the moment. If you see an Airfix Vampire in your local hobby shop it may be a good idea to grab it as soon as possible.
If the campaign is for '14 presumably that would be in abundance by then. Also it's not a trainer so there are more options.

I'd have to think about this one before I commit. Good thing the starting date isn't planned for a long time.
I'd have to choose something interesting. At the minute all I can see on google searches is variations of silver and hard-to-paint dayglo orange schemes. And that dayglo is just going to be a nightmare to get right!!

Cyber Hobby Vampire could be a viable alternative. It screams out for scratch built or AM parts.
Plus it's a single seater so way more decal options open up.

I'm in guys and gals Vampire T11/T55 all the way. Do we have a consensus over which kit we use yet? I'd still ike to go the airfix route but I'll be participating regardless of which kit is eventually chosen.

I have recently bought this kit and when the starting date is late this year, I will consider joining the build off. It is a cool idea to build together a single kit and the kit is really neat!

As a few people have pointed out, a cheaper kit would get more people in. Currently the Cyber-hobby Vampire is being sold in the UK for between £25 to £30. The Airfix for less than 8. I completely agree that the single seater has more finishing options, but its way over-priced for most people. If we want to do a single seater I'd suggest Revells.

I've probably hold out and go for the Airfix Vampire, more due to the cost factor than anything.
Of course this is all a moot point unless the campaign is submitted to the admins for approval

Well here we have it. I probably shouldn't call an audible on the field if I already selected the Airfix. And 20-30 quid is well... Who do dragon think they are, Lockheed Martin?
The Airfix T. 55 stands.

You don't want to know what I think Dragon think they are (or what they think us customers are) lol
Great kits but as far as I'm concerned their price hikes of the last few years have put them way out of reach of my meager budget.
But that's my gripe, I just wanted to point out before anybody got excited that a cheaper kit would be more sensible.

Do we have our first ten yet? I for one am pleased the Airfix kit has been chosen price point aside as I honestly like what Airfix have been doing with their new releases to date. C'mon people lets get this campaign going it's going to be a truly interesting campaign.

I've submitted to tomcat. I agree about Airfix new direction. If it weren't for eduard their 1/48 Emil would be first among equals.
