Would i be better off buying testors dullcote in a bottle and thinning it for airbrush rather than using a can? assume it would last a lot longer.

Yes, using dullcote with your airbrush is far superior to using it from a spray cay; you'll have a great deal more control of how much you apply that way.

So this is a good final coat?

Money is an issue at the moment, i dont mind buying things if they last but i dont want to buy the wrong things

Well the description says dullcote but the picture says glosscote. I recommend that you do your paint shopping in the hobby shop rather than online, to avoid getting shipped the wrong choices.

Problem is theres no model shops near me. Sadly the one in my town is never actually open, other than that its 45mins drive and fuel costs take there toll, plus thats a modelzone and the shop prices are twice that of online.

In fact i went there for my first tools etc and got ripped off lol, il email the company i guess, your right though it would be nice to be able to use a store

I know exactly how you feel, my LHS has disappeared and I have to go out of my way now. Don't try to figure out all these techniques in one model start by getting seams and filling right, if you don't do that, all the rest is wasted. Clear coating will definitely improve your decals along with using Microset. Also, there is a sense of achievement in getting a presentable model out of a rubbish kit. Finally, you have already come a long way in three models, keep going and enjoy each model as you build it and learn a new technique each time, you don't have to spend a fortune, there are some excellent kits out there for reasonable prices

Just to muddy the waters a bit more, I never Future or gloss models before applying the decals. Seems silly to me to gloss the whole thing when it is supposed to me matt so I just apply a little decal setting solution to the matt paint and I rarely have trouble with silvering.
Also, regarding panel lines, go and have a look at a real aircraft and see if you can see any. Bet you can't from even 10 feet away especially with well maintained air force planes. Even with dirty aircraft being flown in war zones will not show many panel lines, just boot prints from technicians climbing all over them and dust, dirt and grime from not being washed very often.
Remember building models is supposed to be fun and if you don't want to do something to it don't. The world won't end.

I just got some more supplies delivered including some putty. So im ready for any poor fitting models. Also ordered some microgloss, and tonight Il order setting solution, some washes and some testers dullcote. I am buying a lot but I am loving it! after this order I pretty much have everything I need, still have a spitfire, hurricane, and 2 bombers who's names elude me, maybe Handley page and battle fairey or something.

I got my microgloss and thinned it with acrylic thinners, used airbrush but it came out very grainy. any idea what im doing wrong? Maybe too high or low psi?
