I needed to complete a relatively simple model not long ago as I had a bit of modeller block and found myself unable to complete a kit. To fix this I chose the simple Tamiya 1/48 Birdcage Corsair to do in FAA colours.
Here are a few of the images of the completed model:

Very nice job Dave, the weathering looks great and it's nice to see a Corsair that isn't blue !
I hope this build blew your modellers block right out of the water.
Cheers, D

You really did a great job there, Dave. Your Corsair looks really like she did a few missons .... You can't go wrong with a Tamiya Corsair. The decals are from Sky Models? I ask, because I've built the same FAA-Corsair in 2011 but with folded wings. There was quite a discussion wether she had clipped wings or not. But no one could offer me a photo of a Corsair Mk. I .... If you like have a look in my "Assembly Line" thread here in this forum. But I should warn you, my Corsair looks very well maintained ....
Happy modelling!

Hi Harv
That really is a lovely build and a fantastic finish!
I guess I've got to be the one to ask though... shouldn't a Royal Navy Corsair have clipped wingtips? If it's valid for this particular aircraft, I reckon you could make the mod quite easily without harming the model.
All the best

Thanks all. The clipped wings were for the ones that deployed on the carriers whilst generally, but not always, the training ones kept their normal wings. From what I understand there were some Mk I's that somehow managed to get on a carrier so they would need to have the tips modified to fit in the RN armoured Carriers. This aircraft is a USA based one without clipped wings.

Nice looking bird! The Corsair is my favorite WWII fighter.
