I must be on a roll,
Even the 1:32 Jug has got in on the act now.
Promodeller wash applied before work this morning.
A great incentive to head straight for the bench when I get home tonight

Super work fella, the weathering on the Spit looks great, and I can't wait to see the next stage of the big Jug.

Nige, that's the bit that always frightens me but nice to see the jug progress.

Two updates in one day.
I'm spoiling you lot!
Promodeller wash all cleaned off. Think I'll give it another coat though before I start with the streaks and oil stains etc.
But for now the big Jug is back on the shelf of shame because it's time to get the Spitfire finished.
And as I was heading up the wooden hill I couldn't resist glueing the undercarriage in place finally and snapping this quick iphone shot of the finished underside.( Again, bleached out by the harsh overhead light)

First past the post is the Tamiya Spit
OOB, PE Seatbelts and Miracle Masks.
No decals.
Crappy iphone pics for now.
Mal.
About 7 years ago when I finished my first kit after the obligatory 20+ year break, ( an Airfix 1:72 Spit), you said you'd love to see what I can do with a Tamiya 1:48th MK1.
Sorry to keep you waiting so long, hope you approve

Not Bad Nige, B+ could do better!
But seriously Nige that is a stunner A, it would have been A+ but you forgot to add the IFF wires?
I'm about ready to add the markings to my Hobby Boss Spitfire Mk V; its been a long time for me too to finish a Spitfire kit. I'll try and post some pics soon.

I didn't forget the IFF wires, I forgot to drill the holes before I started painting, and I don't want to risk messing it up.
I might add them at some point in the future but to be honest I'm just glad to have something finished and accuracy wasn't a priority in this one.
I picked up the new mould Airfix Typhoon the other day and might just speed build that to get back into enjoying a fun build for a change from intensely researched stuff

Yes it depends on what speed you intend to build at, I feel a sweepstake coming on; how long will it take Nige to "speed build" the Airfix 1/72 scale Typhoon:
1
2
3
4
5
Years that is
We need progress pics with date and time

Ow,,ouch,,you're rotten to me you lot!
I'll have you know I once speed built a Tamiya 1:48th Razorback and it took me just less then 2 months so there
Got a darker wash on the Hasegawa Jug over the last couple of days and I'm much happier with it now.
Next step is to get stuck into some proper weathering on it.
My favourite part of a build
I have a busy few days coming up, what with framing tomorrow,a lighting job Thurs-Sat followed by Duxford Sunday and Memorial Day Service on Monday, so it'll be next week before I get started on the wee Tiffie

Next week, is that Monday or Friday? I want to time this speed build

Well I got the Tiffie together, but I couldn't help but be drawn towards the P-47's.
I was going to start weathering the Hasegawa Jug but realised I hadn't painted the intercooler doors yet, ( I always forget the things!), so I painted the base colors last night and the white part of the insignia today.
I thought that seeing as how I was going to mixing some white paint up for this that I may as well paint the code letters on the 1:48 Razorback.
I actually feel like I've done something today now
Onwards and upwards
Planning on getting the 1:32 Bubbletop finished for the Birmingham show

Nigel, Three really outstanding builds. Really like the weathering effects on the Spitfire, especially your approach to the panel lines on the bottom. Darker wash for the sky color, and a lighter color wash for the black. Just works perfectly together.
Looking forward to seeing both Jugs finished. Should be really spectacular.

Thanks Joel.
I'm hoping to start weathering the 1:32 Jug tomorrow!
There is a show in just over a month and I want it finished by then. Sounds a long way off but I have so many demands on my time these days it takes me forever to get anything done

Tell me about it. Between work, home, & family, bench time isn't what it used to be.

Joel, I hear ya mate. I snuck a couple of hours last night for the first time in several months.
Nige, great work fella, the Spit came up superb and the Razorback is really looking good. Soon the only variant you will need to complete the collection will be the two seat trainer.
Cheers, D

Oh well, it only took about 6 weeks but I've managed to make a good start on the weathering as well as attaching almost all of the dangly bits.
First time I've been happy with airbrushing exhaust stains
:)
And some very subtle shading around the cartidge ejection ports and the flaps.
A few equally subtle stains around the engine accessory area.
And it's almost done.
Next step will be some heavily thinned buff to break up the finish and at the same time blend everything together.
Still on track to have this finished in time for the B'ham show

Cheers fellas:)
Hoping to get the final weathering on this and maybe even the varnish sprayed on either Sunday or Monday.
Still in with a chance of getting it finished for the B'ham show but it's going to be tight now as I have a whole bunch of work booked in which takes me up to the 25th.
I was planning on doing some on this tomorrow ( Saturday) but something came up.
