Thanks Stephen, fascinating stuff! I don't have the Voss/Jasta 10 book you mention (I did buy one as a gift for my Son recently), I found Max Roemer's date of death in the Jasta War Chronology.
Searching for the answers to this Thread is almost as much fun as the Builds; also stimulates further study on parallel topics. Keep them coming!

What's the best guess on the wing finish(s) Too early for Lozenge, green/mauve, a bit of each? The photo is hard to read however a yellow over wash and the marking would make an interesting model and the mirror with the non standard sight (?) are different as well.

In my opinion its like von Althaus' D.1119/17 in July-Sept. 1917. The transition between geeting rid of the red brown and the implementation of the mauve colour led the Albatros werke to stick with just dark green and brunswick green.

Here he is in his assigned Albatros D.V at Jasta 10. The pilot's right lower wing root definately shows the dark green and light green pattern. The axle wing is factory varnished. If the fuselage is painted in a translucent zinc (bus) yellow the lightning bolt is probably a lemon or paler yellow.

Thanks Stephen, great stumper till more hints. What is the source for the 1st pic of Roemer ? I take it the picture of him in the Alb is from the Voss/Jasta book.

The first image is a cropped version of his death notification. I have both of these in my files.

Thanks for the extra info Stephen, green and green you say.................
Now it's sounding even better, really different finish and the personal marking is not complicated. Food for thought!

Here is some dessert. Note the serial numbers. All 5 in the line up have 2 toned camouflage. The interum version I spoke of earlier. Note also 1177/17 was MvR's bird he flew in all-red in June 1917.
