It is a good little kit Les, you will enjoy it I think. I painted my RLM 84 on the bottom and up the sides of the fuselage, RLM 83 overall on top and spotted it RLM 81! It reminds me of a salamander of something, the animal not the German aircraft! LOL Russell

Russell,
Yes this is a great kit (so far) most everything I have built has had a wonderful fit of the parts.
The canopy does not look to be as good as the rest of the kit but I have not yet tried to dunk it in Future so maybe even that will look better later on.

Thank you Joel, I hope to have another update later this week.
My Messerschmitt's are getting close to being finished so I will be spending more time on them for now.
Also the Mummy kit below is getting painted and want to get it ready for its coat of Future.

Here are a couple pictures of the B & V as it looks like now, ignore the other models in these pics.
The white areas are some highlights I added and not a form of some sort of odd camouflage pattern, a coat of pale RLM76 will be sprayed on that will cover up almost all of these highlights so that they will be just barely visible on the finished model.

Thank you Russell,
This model will be getting painted in 81/82/76 colors in a pattern similar to that on the box art, but my model will also have some additional field applied camouflage put on it.
The pre-shading was just finished and after the paint dries a bit I should have a picture of it posted later today.

Here is the end result of the pre-shading, I know it looks too heavy right now but after the rest of the paint and markings are on the model the pre-shading will blend in nicely. This model will be getting some heavy weathering.

Les,
That underside looks very nice, and it should render a nice weathered finish.
I have 2 questions, if I may:
1- what colour did you used as base/primer before the 76?
2- that squiggle and mottle on the Volksjager let me curious also for preshade efforts or else?
Cheers
Pedro

Thanks Pedro,
The white mottles and squiggles are just some highlights I added as a form of weathering the paint. Its something I wanted to experiment with instead of the same old pre-shading everybody else has done.
Below is the result of the highlights on the He 162 after they have been covered up by a thin coat of RLM 76.
Its not often I prime my models before painting unless I will be working with AlcladII.
The models in this thread had their undersurfaces sprayed with RLM 65 before adding the white highlights, the bare plastic was so light adding the white highlights would not have provided enough contrast like I wanted.

Les,
Thank you for the explanations.
After your post i went back to that first BV 194 underside photo, and saw that you also used the mottle/streaks effect on the rearmost part of the plane. Very cool!
I like the results of these, more than the squiggle to be honest. Again thanks for sharing your technique, never did occured me to go this way, even thou i had seen and used similar effects on upper surfaces white based camouflages.
Now let's see what other cards you have up your sleeve as the build progresses
Cheers

Les,
Your mottles and squiggles as highlights is VERY effective! My compliments
The B&V looks great. Russell did a good one that I handled without breaking anything off (rare for me!) and I am planning to start Luftwaffe'46 subjects "soon." I have been impressed with these models from Revell.
P.S. I want to ban your mummy - it scared me!

Speaking of squiggles...check out this 1/72 scale Arado Ar234P-1 I am building, painting the scribbles on the He 162 was a breeze compared to this.

Yes this is one odd looking airplane but I suppose it would have worked, I imagine the two different types of engines would have required great skill from the pilot to operate.

More painting done on my models, the little B & V has had its splinter pattern of RLM 81/82 masked off and painted.
...and here is the 1/32 scale He 162 after more of its painting has been done.

My compliments to you Les!! Great work there. I did a similar color scheme, except I used RLM 84 for the undersides and did a splotch pattern on the upper surfaces in RLM 81. Enjoyed looking. Russell

More painting will be done after the markings are put on, this B & V will have a mix of factory and field applied camouflage.

Erik,
I use Model Master enamels on my models, the models in this thread have the colors hand mixed. Model Master's range of Luftwaffe colors are not very accurate especially the late war shades of paint.

A couple in-progress pics of my current group of models.
The Arado Ar234P-1
Blohm & Voss P.194 and He 162
The light area behind the yellow 24 is not a case of decal silvering, this He 162 was transferred to I./JG80 from another unit and had the original aircraft number painted out before the yellow 24 was added, I tried to copy that effect on my model by spraying on some RLM 02 before adding the yellow 24 decals.

Wow! Great work as always Les. Hope you got to see the photos from the Bays Mountain Park Model Expo 2013 which was last weekend here in lovely Northeastern Tennessee.
Not as many contestants as I would of liked, but some nice models nonetheless. Take care, Russell

Wow Les,
Hand-mixing your RLM! Salute!
Great control of the airbrush on the Arado. These are turning out wonderful.

Thanks Russell and Fred!
Russell,
I have not yet seen the photos from the contest you mentioned, will be on the lookout for them.
Fred,
Long before Model Master came out with their line of Luftwaffe colors I always had to mix my own colors so I am used to it, many of the Model Master Luftwaffe colors are not that close to the color chips that I have (RLM70 and RLM71 the worst of the bunch) and I will modify the Model Master Luftwaffe paint shades to get them closer to the intended shades.
Model Master RLM colors 74/75/76 are actually not that bad and I use RLM74 straight from the bottle and only add a little white to the RLM75 and RLM76 to lighten them a bit.
