Wondering if anyone is interested in a campaign to build an aircraft highlighting the airforce of your own country. In other words, any aircraft from any era so long as it flew with the airforce or civiian carrier that is/was existant under the flag shown in your sign-in profile.
I realize there are many campaigns on the table already. I would just like to get more involved, so 'm playing with this idea of a National Pride campaign.

Helis or planes are good. Basically anything that flew under the flag shown on your profile. From the earliest flying contraption thru to modern stealth aircraft, military or civilian. Its more or less a campaign forming a collection of all the worlds aircraft.

If you were a immigrant (like me) and you had two nationalities, would either nationality be acceptable or would you have to go with the country shown in your profile?

I like the idea , at least it will bring forward flags that might be seldom seen over here.
Count me in with a EH101 of the FAP - Portuguese AF, airfix quarter model, if the campaign starts up
Cheers

Mark, I thought real hard on the question you ask. I'm an immigrant too, from the Netherlands. However, now I'm a Canadian and I feel like one. The Canadian flag is on my profile.
If this campaign idea does work out, I believe I'll stick to the idea that your profile flag is your nationality, and you should build a machine carrying that insignia. Hope that works for you.

Count me in. Being an American, I've got nearly an unlimited field to choose from. Odds are it will be WW11 PTO/Naval/USA/Allies. Then again, might just be Army Air Corps for a change of pace.

Seeing as how I generally only build aircraft that flew in British colours, this is something of a no brainer for me. There are plenty of candidates in the stash, but I think I will take the National Pride theme a stage further, and build an all British aircraft, based on the first passenger jet - The Nimrod!

Well, thankyou folks for taking an interest in my simple idea. So far we have six confirmed parties comprising aircraft from five nations, and one unconfirmed hopeful from Canada.
Confirmed
rochaped - Portugal
tinbanger - Canada
Joel_W - USA
IronOwl - USA
ljames0874 - England
J8kob_F - Sweden
Hopeful and Very Welcome
Sabretooth - Canada
It would be so nice to see the modeling effort and aircraft colors from those who live in other parts of our wonderful earth. Europe, Asia, South America, Africa, Middle East; if modelers from these took the plunge, this could be a very colorful campaign, indeed. The whole world is invited.

If this campaign idea flies, it will be my first try at it. So I finally read the campaign info package. There, I found that perhaps the rules should be stated here.
The idea is simple enough. Show the pride you have in your own nations airpower, by building a model which carries your countries colors. Hopefully, this will develop a collection of colorful flying machines which may be common or little known and not usually seen in the spotlight.
Rules
1) The flying machine you choose (civilian or military) must be marked directly in relation to your countries flag as shown on your sign-in profile.
2) No starting prior to the campaign, and the model should be completed by campaigns end.
3) At least 2 progress pics must be posted in the campaign thread.
4) Your first post should be a dated time stamp of your intended victim.
5) At least 2 clear photos must be posted in the official Campaign Thread to be eligible for a campaign ribbon award.
6) Any modeling medium in any scale is welcome.
7) Entries cannot be used for more than one campaign.
8) Comfort your stress, and have fun with this.
Anyone, any age, who comes from here is welcome:

Hi Ben
It'd also be rather fun to print that image of national flags, throw a dart at it, and have to build an aircraft in the colours of whatever nation it lands on! No cheating allowed, of course. (Or play "pin the tail on the donkey" if it's less hazardous to get the same result.)
All the best

Your quite right, Merlin. That idea would be fun as it adds an element of suspence. I have to stay on the road I'm on, though. The dart idea is yours, and therefore your excellent campaign idea.
Glad to hear from you. Take care.

Hi Justin. Thanks for considering the idea. I'll be marking you in as a confirmed.
Just 2 more brave souls who love their country required. Then I can submit the idea for possible approval.
Well Sascha, I'm no expert. I don't think the 2006 world flag will work because it might just be too busy to see anything in a small size. You'd probably just see a small blob of colors.
I am considering options, though. Just have to learn how to do it or get some help. Don't forget that this is a first for me.

I'm in depending on dates and how quickly I finish the models I have now. Maybe I can use this campaign to paint aircraft accurately (unlike my flaming Israeli F-16, but that was the ARII kit that I got for $5 so whatever). Anyways, I'm probably in.

If anyone has a picture of the P-40 in RCAF markings, I would appreciate it. Also, I found this website while trying to find a picture of a RCAF P-40:

(I really feel like someone from Vatican City needs to sign up for this campaign. )

Hi Chris. I'm not exactly sure what your meaning is. Are you interested in giving the campaign a go?
Mark, thankyou for taking an interest.
Just type RCAF P-40 into your search engine, and its quite easy to find photos like these:
P-40E, 118 Sqn., RCAF, Canada.
P-40E, 111 Sqn., RCAF, Anchorage, Alaska.
P-40, 414 Sqn., RCAF, European Theatre
One more proud modeler too go. There has to be one more in this world.

I did some studying on the differences between RCAF and RAF markings during WWII (or lack thereof), and I cannot tell how they are different. The roundels are the same and the fin flash is the same. If you could tell me how I can distinguish RCAF aircraft from RAF ones, that would be very much appreciated. I usually don't go for an accurate finish on my models, plus I am a very casual modeler, so the whole referencing thing is new to me.
Thank you for the help!

Hi Mark
During WWII, RCAF aircraft were identified by squadron numbers (400 Sqn. thru 443 Sqn.) and their aircraft squadron codes. It was the same for other Commonweatlth countries flying with the RAF at this time, such as New Zealand and Australia. These countries also had squadron numbers in the 400 series and their own squadron codes.
All Commonwealth nations carried the same colors, depending on which war theatre they were operating. Often, RCAF aircraft carried a small maple leaf on a white disc.
RCAF aircraft in the war could be distinguished by these squadron codes:

Surely, their must be two more courageous, over campaigned modeling guru's who would like to build any type of aircraft that ever flew under their national flag, ever.
Here's the current list of the confirmed:
Mcleod - Canada
rochaped - Portugal
tinbanger - Canada
Joel_W - USA
IronOwl - USA
ljames0874 - England
J8kob_F - Sweden
Keeperossouls2099 - USA
Sabretooth - Canada
That's nine, so only 1 more required or 1000 welcome.
I thought I should like to incorporate this image of the Blue Planet into a ribbon. I'm just trying to learn, though, and not sure how it might workout in small size.
What do you think? Like it?
