Option #1 vs Option #2
In a "Contenders" context regarding the storyline.Do I want to show the Fokker completely dominating the Camel as in option #2 or only bruised and battered from this particular encounter with a Fokker as in option #1 or #2.(as a fighter would look between rounds and not yet totally defeated)The war at this point has not been decided either way and both aircraft are still contenders.
If this was an after the war 1918 piece then I could show a German triplane as in option #2.
I have to make a decision soon as option 2 would require removing the already attached gear from the plastic.
In re-reading the above I am almost sure it will be option 1 or 3 and I will leave the gear attached.

I was looking at my stash today and I came across this never finished kit and thought how could I use this in the diorama? Small scale=wind tunnel=experimental. This hangar facility is for stealing ideas but also experimenting with new ones.Take the wings ,hang them on a wall and write experimental on them. But wait experimental is English it won't work in a Canadian context.I immediately looked for the German word and you guessed it ,it is experiment. That solves another piece of the storyboard puzzle.
In the Movie 'The Blue Max' there is a scene in a windtunnel with a model of the plane that ultimatly kills the 'Hero' That can give you the color of the model, which I believe was over all light gray. (If you pursue this plot line)

Where DID you get a Hubley Model with a bar code that indicates recent manufacture. I thought they were history in the late seventies BBC( before bar code)

They were manufactured by another company but I am not sure if they are still available.

Although this will be a shadowbox I will be building my models in-the-round for picture taking purposes.I enjoy making little photographic vignettes as I build the larger diorama.

dolly15,
This has been bothering me...
The wheels on the support dolly look too modern for the era. basically too fat... maybe 1930ish (I know; Dusie)
Simple fixes
1) Put a 'tarp' over the front right tire or lean a board with Camel info sheets tacked on, against it.
2) On the back right wheel drap a piece of camel Fabric, perhaps the fuselage roundel showing - subtly - this is RAF.
3) Can you replace the wheels with 'Model T' wheels 1/32 would be about right..
You've probably thought of this already and have the wheels or the layout, but this has been bothering me.

Hi Tommy ! I really like your creative thinking on this ,thanks for passing it on.
Yeah,I know it bothers me too but I had to put something there to figure out how high the trailer bed should be.I may just use the tires and scratch the spokes. The thickness of the tires can be shaved down Cheers ! John.

I am still anxiously awaiting the Fokker from Model Airways which was supposed to be out this month. This one will be resting on the hangar floor.I haven't yet decided on a sub-storyline for this vignette within the larger diorama but I am working on it.This time ,for a change, I may just build it out of the box so that I can do a build review on it and then add whatever I come up with as a storyline.

I was looking at a series of pics last night of HMS Victory my first storyboard diorama .It was in the " walkaround " style and when you clicked on the pic twice it enlarged the image to an almost microscopic extent.Wow ! wouldn't I have loved to have a tool like this in the old days .All my research in those days was in libraries and snail mail and it was not easy to find.I do not regret doing it the old way as I learned a lot about shipbuilding in general.I spent about 6,000 shop hours building that model in 1/72 scale complete with figures going about their duties on board.I am sure that you could almost double that time considering the research I had to do.
It was nice to have lived through that transition period as it gives me a real appreciation for both eras of modelmaking. It also helped me get over the barrier of scratch building stuff as there was no other choice.
