Terri,
Your cockpit weathering is looking real good. Making seat belts has long been a standard procedure for me. If the kit comes with PE Belts & Harnesses, I use that, otherwise I do as you did.

Finally was able to get some bench time in and get a bit more painting down . Cockpit is finished ready to be button up . Nothing fancy about the seatbelts . Buckles are from wire bent to shape and the belts themselves are Tamiya tape folded over it's self .
Terri
I use the same method for making seat harnesses. But I think the P-40s of the AVG just had lapel belts, not shoulder belts?

Very nice so far. I am impressed by the "back to basics" approach and simple enhancements that have a significant effect. After the B-17 I'm working on now, I will be more than ready for something like this.

Terri,
Nice progress. A little sanding, polishing, and you'll be ready for some primer and paint.

Thanks guy's
Brain , every now and than it's to do a build and not worry to much about the details . Too many kit's in the stash for that !
I have made some progress . Per-shading is done and the lower camo has been sprayed . Tamiya light grey with a bit of white added . Once the top colours are laid I will post some pictures .

Oh Terri,
wonderful! Your cockpit is a beauty. It looks like you bent the wire of the harness buckles into more accurate shapes than I have been able to achieve. Glad to see the fuel indicator on the floor that you added. Tiny detail - unique detail. What beautiful lines the Tomahawk has.
Ever read Older's book? I hate to admit it but I can't recall which three AVG pilots I had sign my copy of Martin Caidin's The Ragged Rugged Warriors; met them and some famous Luftwaffe pilots at the 1990 Fighter Pilots Symposium at Falcon Field, Arizona.

Terri----Nice progress on the -40. Are you doing the AVG markings?
Frederick----Saw your reference to the "Ragged, Rugged Warriors" book. What a great book that was. The author's depiction of the low-level B-26 attack at Midway in my mind was some of the best writing in any aviation book ever. He really made you feel like you were in the cockpit of those Marauders.
Best wishes,
Ian

Hey Fred Yeah , but I wasn't consistent with their shape . Fingers don't work like they used to and I find working with smaller items a bit more difficult than before . Eyesight is still impeccable though . Glad you like the details , I can see you jumping up and down giggling like a little school boy who just drop a worm down his sister back
Never heard of the title before . I really don't do a lot f reading on WW 2 just mostly WW 1

Terri,
why not install a water trap on your air compressor. That should allow you to paint in humid conditions. Just remember to release the excess moisture every so often during your painting sessions.
I used one for years when we didn't have central a/c. and my compressor didn't have a air tank.
Right now we just have the windows open, and it's rather humid. I've still been air brushing without a water trap, and no issues. I'm assuming that the large air tank is where all the water vapor gets trapped. Will be cleaning that mess out again this week.

Terri,
I was wondering what happened to you and your build. My fault really, as I don't stop by the Early era forum very often. It's your specialty, and frankly, I'm more then overwhelmed by those stringy things :-)

I finally made some more progress on this after it has been sitting on the shelf of doom .
For the brown part of the camo I used Polly Scale earth brown and for the dark green I used Tamiya lighten with a bit of white . Camo was sprayed free hand , something I haven't done in a long time . Tires got sprayed polly scale grimy black . Spinner got a coat of Tamiya red . Wheel wells I painted zinc chromate yellow from the small square jars in their enamel range .
