Bernd,
Your decaling efforts turned out quite nice. Not a trace of silvering or flash that I can see anywhere. Those decals sure laid down nicely, as they look like they were painted on.

Looking forward to your next update.

Hi Joel, these decals worked very good, but i was glad to have
a spare "K" for example (from Revell) when dry there stick like paint.
This is good news for me,i have some other Techmod sheets to go
for future projects (TBM,P-47;Wellington Mk.Ic )
Thank you for stopping and commenting

I'm afraid that I find it impossible to comment on decals! Your build though is moving nicely forward and the model is looking very good

Hi
In the last weeks (months?)i had no time for modelling or was not in the mood for it.
The time was needed to get my very own online-shop (modelling, what else:-)on air.
There is still a lot to do on a daily basis and there are a lot of "bugs" to go by, but the selling has started and i am more relaxed.
A few days ago i get back to my working bench and there was a big Ju 88 (and a MiG-23 as well).Historians called this "time capsule" i guess
Time to do something. The few progress shots are not uploaded right now,
but i got some nice stuff for the Ju:
- Eduard Brassin wheels
- A gun-barrel set from Quickboost
- seat belts from HGW
Not much, but it will improve the kit

Thank you very much for commenting and viewing

Nice collection of extra's and add-ons Bernd, they will make a big difference to your build. The brassin tyres are very good, ( used a set on my Sturmovik).

Hi Julian, you are right, the Brassin - wheels are much better than the kit ones, i hope you got some time for your Il-2 to spare and finish this one, it deserves it :-)

Here is a small but important step forward on the landing gear.
The plastic axles are replaced with steel ones (nails) and the struts received break lines from lead wire.
The rear struts are cleaned up, the sink holes all over them
are filled with putty and sanded
The Brassin parts are cut (sawed) out and cleaned.

So much for now.
Best

Looking good Bernd,
have you checked out the Vallejo "Panzer Ace's" rubber colors?
Dark and light rubber, the light rubber resembles that unusual synthetic rubber color you sometimes see on Luftwaffe aircraft,

Hi Julian, this brand has a great range of products, sometimes i will give them a go, these rubber was called "Buna", i guess.
For the tyres i have used my own brew, the very next purchase will be a spare valve for my old but trusty Badger 150, after 20 years or so, the thread has gone for good, after some 5 minutes spraying, the air hose blews away, that is annoying !
Anyway, while the struts and wheels are drying, here are some pics. another step forward:
First, the struts are sprayed silver...

....after this they were masked ....

more coming soon

Badgers are fantastic Bernd, I love them. 20 years is a good track record. I bought a Badger Krome about a year ago, really good pieces of kit.
Your undercarriage is looking excellent, can't wait to see the bird perched on top

Bernd,
Very impressive masking on those struts. Looking forward to seeing them once painted and the tape removed.

Thank you for commenting Joel
The masking was looking good, but after removing
i had to do some touch ups. These procedure made the hydraulic lines look more battered, here the pics:

Revell provided some different production numbers for the struts.
The rims are painted black and were later drybrushed with the
graphite sanded down from a pencil, one was slightly damaged.

The tyres are sprayed with a self mixed black/brown and washed with a darker shade of that, after they had dried a brown shade was drybrushed, my brush left its mark in form of some hairs too.

The wheel doors are painted RLM 02, received a dark wash and were later drybrushed too

With the same brush
Some much for now, thank you very much for commenting and watching

Bernd,
those struts and oleos look great. What a great touch with the production numbers. You just never see that on a model. Tires and wheels really look good. Will certainly have to try that graphite pencil method.

Ouch !! I hate the Dentist, and I fish with one. Go figure.

Good morning Joel, this "pencil-method " is a good alternative to gun metal paints, while easy to apply but "do not touch"

Revell done a good job with their Ju 88 family, cheap and good.
after painting the the struts i detect, that the seam on the
struts is a little visible.

Dentists are only dangerous while doing their jobs, yesterday
i was twice there, she got old newspapers and boxes for me.
While my business has started i am in urgent need for cheap package

Bernd,
By don't touch, I gather that you don't seal the graphic with a clear coat.

Hi Joel i will assemble the wheels at a very late point, they
will receivethe same flat coat, that finish the kit.
Some progress on the undercarriage. My idea a to assemble the
struts complete before attaching them in the wheel wells, dry fit was promising but in the end it didn t worked
Pics:
the unpainted tailwheel enhaced with the Brassin parts:

The completed undercarriage:

Mated with the airframe. Not a stellar moment of modelling:

And the tailwheel glued at an angle

So much for now !

Bernd,
I'm with Julian 110%. The main landing gear really looks quite good installed, as does the tail wheel, especially at an angle.

Hi, thank you all for your kind comments !
Made some progress on it, installed the wheels. While the weather is bad outside i made some pics inside, here are the better ones:

Comparing my Ju with photos from the real one, i feel the stand is a bit too high for a heavy loaded aircraft, so no "Hermann" bombs !

Does look a bit high on her legs Bernd, empty fuel tanks and no bomb load. Still looks impressive though
