Hello all, been awhile since my last post, but I just have a question. Does anyone know where I can get a print or picture or anything of the P-40 that has been run into with another plane. It looks like the P-40 took a bite out of the other plane and the metal is hanging out of it's shark mouth. I've only seen it once or twice and know I can't remember where. Any help would be greatly appreciated, Happy Holidays!

:-) I've not seen this pic, if you, or somebody else does find could you post it? Sounds interesting. In the meantime I'll have a look, see if I can find it :-)

Most definatey, Holdfast. It's quite a cool pic. If I remember correctly it was black and white--looked like it might have been taken in the Pacific on a grass field. It's a cool pic. :-)

Found it! Long story on it's aquistion, and I have no idea how to post this pic, but if anyone wants a copy, email me at skywrench1 at adelphia dot net
Or somebody could explain to my computer illiterate butt how to post the pic.
This is a really cool pic, espicially for us P-40 lovers.

Try going to the Rivet review board forum. Then click on the Image help button in the upper right quadrant of your screen. Then half way down there is pretty good directions for posting images. You probably want the BBCODE direction (you may want to print them)
Essentially though in this forum strand:
1) Do a reply
2) Click the [ img ] button that shows below the reply window
3) This should show up: "[ img ]http://put.url.here/image.file[ /img ]"
4) Now go to the site that you found the picture at (Open another browser window with File: New Window, etc.
5) Right click on the picture and choose "properties"
6) In the properties window that pops up there is a section that says Address (URL), highlight this entire thing including the http:// through the end (you may have to make the selection scroll down to get it all) Essentially make sure you have highlighted from http: through .jpg or .gif whatever the file ends with
7) Right click on what you have highlighted and choose "copy"
8) Come back to your Armorama window and highlight this part of the code that came up when you pressed the [img] button
http://put.url.here/image.file
9) Right click what you have highlighted and choose "paste"
10) Then finish your reply and submit
11) This is the step by step of what I do and there are probably 50 ways to do it, but it is one that should work
Of course you could always just give us the address that appears in the address bar of your explorer window too.

I would love to have a website to post--unfortunately, the picture was actually hanging on a wall at the US Air Force Academy (hence the long story)and was then scanned and put on a disc for me. So i will try the Rivet review forum bosrd and see how that works out. :-)

Thank You newtothegame! One of these days I will figure out computers. Anyway, so it was a dirt field and (looks like) someone actually stuck a peice of metal in the sharks mouth but I still had to share this pic.
Thanks again newtothegame! :-)

Hard to tell if the metal got there by accident or if the shot was posed. If it was by accident, how did it get past the prop? On the other hand, it looks to me like the area around the mouth/radiator is pretty crunched up; notice the bent metal in the middle of the "mouth" paint. Looks like there was some kind of impact.
Tremendously neat picture, at any rate. Anybody know what P-40 variant this is? Looks like it might make for a neat model/diorama.

I have to say it looks like a vintage joke to me...
If that was the result of a collision, how come the propeller's intact?
But great pic!! :-)
All the best

Quite right Zach :-)
My references say that those ventillation holes in the cowling were a distinguishing feature of the P-40N.
