I do now that we have plenty of campaigns going and not much room for the new one, but it just get an idea about a new one

So campaign is dedicated to fixed gear aircraft used in combat during WWII. Aircraft has to be design as a 1st line combat aircraft (bomber, fighter, recon, etc.) Transport and liaison aircrafts are not permitted. There is plenty of aircrafts used by many countries which will fit in to that categories, starting form all except one aircaft (PZL.37 Los) used by Polish Air forces in September !939, going thru German Ju87 Stuka or Fiesler Storch, Italian Fiat flighters, British Lysander, Swordfish or Gladiator to Japanese aircrafts attacking Pearl Harbor. Not to forget USSR with theirs I-15. Many if those aircrafts were used by different nations in WWII, such us Gladiator or Fiat CR.42
There is two country's which I cannot find a first line fixed wheel combat aircraft. The first is USA, the second is France. So i need you help with those to countries.
Will i find 10 of you for that campaing?

Piper L-4? What about the various French bombers with the built-in headwind from the mid '30s? They would have seen use during 1939 and 1940, at least as targets for the Luftwaffe?

Boeing P-26A? Designed as a front line fighter and still flying into 1941.

The USAAF used Noorduyn Norsemen, Lockheed Vegas and several other types as light cargo and liaison aircraft. The Vought Kingfisher's wheels were down and welded when it was fitted as a land plane.
Pour L'Armee de L'Air, one could do no worse than look at
this list. The
very first aircraft had fixed gear.
Others in the
list also have
fixed landing
gear and I've barely scratched the surface. Heller/Smer offer many of these fine aircraft in kit form.

Jessica, i am not really good in French aicrafts, but you are right there were still for example Amiot 143 used in May 1940, a few of MB200 too. So we do have that problem solved. As of USA aircraft both of them, L-4 and Peashooter, were definitely used in front lines so i will count them in. Now we just have to find 9 more to be able to start a campaign.

I would be interested; I have a Fokker DXXI and a PZL-P11c. As for American fixed gear aircraft, the Curtiss Hawk 75 model H, M and N were fixed geared export versions of the P-36. They were used by Thailand, Argentina and by China in their war against the Japanese.

I'd like to, but I can't predict my availability that far in advance. Tell you what. For the purposes of getting the campaign off the ground, count me in

Now for the time, go to the
Campaigns page and look at the dates of the currently approved campaigns, then work out when your campaign can run.

Howdy Y'all
Any chance of changing the Transport & Liaison exclusion? I'll still throw my had in the ring, heck I don't know what I'll be doing that far in advance but I could always clear the stash and build a Ki-27. Please count me in.
This is a good idea for a campaign. Good luck.
Take care,

of course I am still interested in that campaign

just wonder if subject will be interesting for enough of us to get that going. So far not much of success, even though I believe there is plenty of fine subjects in that category. But we will see...

To expand on the number of aircraft available I suggest you think of all the rotary wings around during WW2. Germany had the Focke Achgelis, Hafner shipboards, Britain the Avro/Cierva Autogyro, USA Sikorsky and Kellett. Just thinking

You better explain the planned rules as it still says "fixed wheel" in the topic. Rather nasty when you try to land that plane...

All first line aircrafts with fixed landing gear?
Then the helicopters and autogyros are OK.
What about fixed gear with skis?

Oh I am in, just don't start it until Summer is over. I just had Tamiya's Fi 156 Storch delivered and this would be the perfect excuse to start her.

My idea of the campaigns was to build model of the aircraft designed as a first line aircraft with a fixed landing gear. That is a reason why I wanted to exclude transport or training aircrafts. I can agree that liaison aircrafts were first line aircrafts. As a "fixed wheel" of course I did mean "fixed landing gear", but with wheels. Now to have more of us interested with this campaign, we can expand it to skis and even floats. So aircrafts like Fokker XXI might be build with wheels or with skis. Also, it will open up the campaign for such models like Accurate Miniatures IL-2 with skis or A6M2-N Rufe with floats. And now Lysander will belong to it too

If it will help, I can make that change. As the dates for campaign, my proposition is to start at September 1st, 2015 and finish on March 31st, 2016. That’s 7 months to finish.
So far I have following members which want to participate:
1. macotra4
2. PeeJay74
3. Merlin
4. Tinbanger
5. Havyjagdpanzer
6. Gaborka
7. Prickle Head
8. Lakota
