@Luciano - just been reading back through the posts, you live near the DH museum? Coincidentally, I volunteer there most Saturdays, small world eh?
It is in deed Simon, when I say near it's three junctions on the M25 approx 20min door to door. I must get down to the museum before the campaign starts so I can find out more about the Vampires built at the factory.
Regarding Fairlop it would appear to be Spitfires, Hurricanes IV, Mustangs II and Tiffies.

cheers for the help Luciano and Dave!
I spent ages trawling through the archive section in my local library a while back because looking for documents concerning RAF Fairlop was much more interesting than my course work
unfortunately there was nothing there detailing the aircraft types which flew from Fairlop. I did however find an ariel photograph of the area taken in 1940, which showed the field where my archery club shoots in the summer as the emergency landing strip for the main Fairlop airfield. No wonder the metal detectors go crazy finding everything but the arrow I'm looking for
Cheers, Simon

A little Wikipedia research on RAF Manston tells me there is quite a range of Aircraft from all different eras to choose from. During WWI, Handley Page operated a bomber training school, so the 0/400 would be an option (unlikely as rigging terrifies me). WWII saw a Hurricane Sqn based there, and later Typhoons. Manston was also a departure point for Op Market Garden bound aircraft. The 1950's saw the USAAF take over, and there were B-36 and B-47 bombers based here, as well as KC-97 Stratofreighters initially, before all the heavies were sent to Rammstein, and F-84E and F-86F sqns took over. By 1960, Manston reverted to RAF and civilian use. Air Sea rescue operated Westland Whirlwind helicopters, later being replaced by Wessex HC-2's, and later still, Sea King HAR.3's. The Defence Fire Training and Development Centre is the only remaining Military concern now at Manston, with an FGR.2 and an F3 Phantom to practice on.
As I have one of Fujimi's excellent F3's in the stash, that will be my entry. Cheers Everyone!

I've been tinkering with a ribbon concept, here are some possibilities.

I have to agree; it's much more eye-catching.

I love the right one too.
If it is OK with you Jonathan can we use it as the campaign ribbon.

If you're happy I'm happy.
The Wiki has this nice picture of a KC-155 at Westover AFB in 1969. This might be my subject.
I have this kit -

Thanks Jonathan.
That looks a challenging build, vac form and resin. Will look good once done though. Is it a natural metal scheme on it?

Havent decided yet. They were bare metal in the early years, but the Welsh kit instructions and provided decals call for ADC grey.
They turned grey sometime in the early 1970s I guess. Ill have to find out more about that.

If we're dividing rabbits, the "bare metal" KC-135s were actually all painted with aluminium lacquer to combat corrosion. Note the uniformity of tone which cannot be achieved on a true bare metal aircraft. Good old Testors rattle can silver is an excellent option for the lacquer finish.

I am in.
I live right next to Vaerloese airfield which was used by the Danish air force before the occupation and by the Germans during the occupation. Plenty to choose from.
Otherwise there was a lot of airshows there, so it is pretty easy to find something post WWII as well.
Lastly I think almost any aircraft in Danish Air Force service would have landed there at one time or another.
Now to decide what to build....
