Great idea! Are we talking about military surplus equipment that did civilian usage, or are we talking about military designs that were produced for civil use? I am wondering about things like the 377 Stratocruiser. and Vimy Commercial. Those might be outside the actual intent of the campaign.
Lots of C-47s were used for everything from passenger service to drug smuggling over the years. Now, a bunch of military equipment is being granted out to local police departments in the United States. Tons of WWII Jeeps spent their retirements working as swamp buggies. DUKWs still give harbor tours. One PT was made into an oyster boat, and another was hacked up as a dinner cruise boat. (looking at Wikipedia, reading histories of surviving PT boats, a few were converted to fishing, yacht and excursion boats. It might be pretty hard to find photos, though.) The whole Unlimited class in air racing is filled with modified WWII fighters. (And the Texan class is another gold mine of subjects) Military ships have been sunk as dive reefs (For those looking for a real diorama challenge) Bombers were made into restaurants and gas stations... Belly tanks were made into Bonneville racers. Military motorcycles were raced, and made into choppers. Many skydiving clubs use retired military planes. (Challenge! Who will be the first to model one of Pink Aviation's S7s?)
I could go on for pages, but this is a really cool idea for a campaign. I hope this generates a lot of interest. Good Luck!

Would any type of civilian vehicle qualify; ships, planes, trains, and automobiles? How about Owen's ride? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dbgOACJpZg0

All you'd need is a pair of two-stage Merlin Nacelles. Pity Paragon went the way of the Dodo. There's also this one, which you could do with a stock B Mk. IV:

If I understand the rules correctly (and I'm not sure that I do), the subject has to have either server in the armed forces then sold to the civilian sector; or was designed for the armed forces, but they never used it & the civilian sector did. Am I understanding that correctly? If I am, then a subject designed specifically for & sold only to the civilian sector wouldn't necessarily apply. Would it?

No, that's only one possibility. Strictly civil designs are more than welcome.

Hi Jim
This campaign is open to any type of model.
Civilian built and used are welcome.
Ex military used in the civilian world (no guns etc)are welcome.
Before someone asks UN mission items are allowed (no guns etc).
Original use does not matter as long as the posted model is
built as a civilian (photo of original would be nice).
No what If's.

Thanks for clearing that up, Richard.
Jan, I like your idea of the Ford Tri-Motor. Are you going to do it Eastern Air Transport livery like the photo?
