1/72 A-7A Corsair II

I recently purchased the Fujimi A-7A Corsair II and need some help with markings. I want to do a Navy squadron which served in the Vietnam conflict. Who makes a good set of decals for such a subject in 1/72 scale. I have seen some old Super Scale ones but are there any newer ones?---John

John, jet aircraft arent something im well versed on but on decal debacles such as yours I use ebay searches. You can do it just to see whats out there even if I dont buy there (usually I do though) just search "1/72 a-7 decals" and see what pops up. You can do general web searches but they usually lead you to ebay listings anyway. Once you ID a sheet you like then do a web search for that specific sheet. One popular decal seller from the west coast has complete scans of the decal directions posted under description, which has greatly effected my choices on several occasions.

Thanks, I have spent days searching E-Bay. I get lots
of decals but none for the time period I want. If not
that it is some ridiculous price like $30 to $50 for
a lousy set of 1/72 decals, usually 30 to 40 years old!
What these people don't get is I want them to use NOT
collect. Plus not all decals have a good shelf life although
I have used some almost 40 years old.---John

Then Im in a similar boat, looking for 1/72 USAF korean war F-51 decals. I would have thought both our subjects would be easier to find. Your not kidding about prices either some of those old sheets are probably more out of date than the kits they were originally made for

I think I found some, my kit has Blue Blazers but from 1976
and not Vietnam cruise. I have located a Microscale sheet with
Blue Blazers in an earlier 70s scheme I think. The sheet is
72-162. Crossing my fingers.---John

1st off, welcome to Aeroscale. You're really going to like it here. The more you contribute, the more you'll get back from the site.
Interesting selection of aircraft and scale. I'm mostly a 1/48 'scaler since coming back to the hobby. Not sure why you picked the A7 till I took a look at your avatar.
As for the kit, the Fujimi kit was molded way back in the 1980s. I kind of remember it, but not well, so I googled it, and was rather pleasantly surprised that even today, it still holds its own. Recessed panel lines, and a pretty fairly accurate outline. Glad that you found AM decals to meet your needs.
I'm looking forward to following your build.

Yep, one in the same. Aeroscale is my number 1 site, and ARC is my #2 site. That's all the sites I visit and am a member of.
The Vietnam GB starts Sept on ARC.

Yep, same here.
Been on both sites for more years then I can remember. Both are different in that Aeroscale is more Prop oriented, while ARC is more jet focused. But both sites will follow your builds, offer advice, and help when needed. For me it's the best of both worlds. Out of the two, Aeroscale is more like my home, as I feel most comfortable here.

the room here since I retired and moved to a smaller place.
Who makes a WWII Buffalo in 1/72 or 1/48 that is fairly decent.

I'm right behind you. Semi retired, with full retirement in 1 1/2 years when my wife is 65 and can finally get Medicare. I'm already on it, but have to work to have a family health care plan for her.
The F2A-3 Buffalo is the 1/32 Czech limited edition multi media kit. It certainly had it's challenges. Special Hobbies makes a pretty good 1/48 F2A-3 and a F2A-2. They also make a B339 export version of the F2A-2 kit. Finding the kits will be a real challenge.

kit limited edition? Or could I do any Buffalo and convert it to a -3? I am actually 62, took early retirement, my wife is 3 years younger than me. I get ss and a pension from the place I worked the longest, 20yeras out of my 42 years. The wife has a good medical plan at work, before she got it we had bummercare, really pays zilch. Hurry up and retire!---John

I see now! Special Hobby also does a 1/72 F2A-3! Cool, looks to be about $25. Not too bad. I cut my stash, with this smaller place in Fl I don't have 2 floors and a basement like in Ma. But don't miss the ice and snow!---John

The trick is actually finding the kit. Sprue Brothers has been out of the 1/48 scale offerings for what seems like forever.
