So, calling this one done! I guess, the US troops should prove the year 1945. As I have no real recordings about this plane prior to its arrival in the US, I just guessed, that it was found by US troops.Hope You enjoy it!

OK, I've finally settled on a 1/48 Tamiya F4U-1D:
The box is kind of beat up but the plastic is just fine:
Pre-painting is pretty much done and about time to start construction:
I'll be building it in the markings of Ens. Alfred Lerch of VF-10 off USS Intrepid. On 16 April, 1945 during the Battle of Okinawa Lerch shot down 7 Japanese aircraft in one sortie. It was his first combat engagement. Seems like a worthy subject!

Painting done and half the decals on. Decals are being a pain. But I'm winning! See my build log for details.

Nice work everyone!
The F4U is finished. Tamiya 1/48 F4U-1D from VF-10 off USS Intrepid. On 16 April, 1945 Ens. Alfred Lerch shot down seven Japanese aircraft in one sortie in this this airplane. It was his first combat mission.
I'll be putting more pics in the campaign gallery.
Just for fun, here's a shot of my Corsair collection so far:
Four Tamiya and two Hasegawa kits. Still a few more to go!

Michael, great Corsair collection. The latest Cosair is a cool addition with an awesome history. 7 kills in the first mission is quite something.
Chris, great work on the 109. Looks great. Looking forward to see more.

Thank you Oliver (and everyone else)!
Yes, it's an F4U-7 off the French carrier Arromanches(?) in 1956. The Hasegawa 1/48 kit. Those late Hasegawa F4Us are nice kits too!

Oliver
Yes Oliver, the Eduard Combo set in 1/72
I select the last scheme. An Hellcat of Oscar Lorenzo, an argentine who combat in Ceylon in 1945 during WW2 alongside the british and commenwealt forces. More than eight hundred argentine pilots was in the WW2 with these.

Hi Jose, I wasn't aware till recently that Argentina had participated in WW2 on the Allied side. I look forward to seeing what you do with the kit.

Okay some progress to report, decals on, panel line wash done! Undercarriage on and glued into place. Spinner and wheels painted (yet to paint the tyres). The landing gear are shaped in such way that they will only fit one side which makes assembling them pretty much fool proof.
And of course the obligatory progress pics.
