I have just read the following announcement on IPMS UK Facebook page regarding Edgar Brooks from two different sources:

Quoted Text

I have just been made aware that Edgar Brooks passed away last night. Many will now him for his expertise and knowledge of the Spitfire, and his willingness to pass on his knowledge to anyone who asked. He will be sadly missed.

Thought best to share on here as he was quite an active member and always willing to depart his knowledge of all things Spitfire to those that requested help/ pointers/ references.

Rest In Peace Edgar

Hi Sam

That is dreadful news. My thoughts and sincere condolences go out to Edgar's family and all his many friends worldwide.

We have lost an irreplaceable font of knowledge on UK aviation - and, of course, all things Spitfire in particular.

Thank you, Edgar, for all your help and patience with the countless questions and inaccuracies over the years. R.I.P. knowing you've left a job well done.

And now we can say the words "Bakelite" and "Seat" in the same sentence without fear.

Excuse me, something's gotten into my eye.

The international modeling community has lost a true Icon with Edgar's passing. He was a true Spitfire Knowledge base that has always been more the glad to share with us, especially when we just didn't know any better.

My sincerest condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace, and may we all remember him.

A very sad loss indeed. He was such a valuable source of information regarding the Spitfire and he will be badly missed. I always enjoyed the jousts that he had with other so called Spitfire experts on various modelling forums.
Rest in peace Edgar.
