Hello All!
I just enlisted #13 woohoo!
After checking thru the Osprey website list of titles, I know I have more than a few with which I can contribute.
I absolutely love this idea Mike, I'll be adding some WWI aircraft duelists from the stash, if 1/72 scale is acceptable. I'm getting back into it after almost a 2-1/2 yr hiatus

and this is as a great campaign idea.
Beautiful MirageIII too, BTW
Will try to add some pics soon and thanks again for this.
Dave

Welcome aboard Dave! 1/72 is definitely welcome as is WWI. I myself am having a bit of a decision crisis. I know I finished the Mirage and have the MiG in the stash, but my birthday is next week and I have reason to believe I will be getting an Asuka (ex-Tasca) M4A3(W) 76. As I already have a Panther G, the Panther vs Sherman volume is calling to me...

Putting an image or two in here to show that i'm still going strong in the campaign, just that i'm mainly posting in the blog.

Also good if you don't want to have to wade through all the other history and research i'll be posting!

I figured I would give you aircraft boys some tanks to look at. This is a good intro campaign for me as my first builds after getting back in to the hobby are going to be a Panzer I through Panzer VIB and representative opponents from among the Allies. Alas, I have already finished my KT so KT vs IS2 is out. Instead I will go for Panzer III vs Somua S35. Pictures to follow!

Sounds great, Richard. What kits are you using for your builds?

The new Tamiya Somua and a Dragon Pz IIIG, at 1:35. The Pz III will be built for the Eastern Front since I already have a Pz II for France, so we'll just have to pretend.

Good choices. I have heard good things about the Tamiya Somua, but never see it in the flesh. It will be interesting to see your build.

Well, I had a good birthday and received not one but THREE Asuka Sherman kits. Getting hard not to join Richard in a tank build:

From what I've heard, building both of these may still be easier than that Trumpeter 1/32 MiG-21F-13 per my original plan.

Michael, I have build the Panther kit. Great kit that goes together well. If memory serves me well you will have half a panther left in the box when finished

Looking forward to see more

The Somua build started on Sunday. Tamiyas usually fit together easily and this was no exception. The suspension is mostly hidden behind the track armour but I needed to paint it and the wheels for the few bits which will show up. Airbrushing outside would have resulted in some interesting weathering effects due to hail impact so I resorted to brushwork.
The tracks are individual links which click together. I am a big fan of these as long as they are not too tiny (I'm looking at you, Dragon Pz I).

Next up, I wait for some good weather and get some paint on the body and tracks. I'm not going to weather this one too much as I figure most of the Somuas didn't stay around for long enough, but I might try to get some shell impacts on the front if I can work out how to get them realistic.

Good progress today in getting the engine nacelles closer to the fact than Tamiya's fiction.

At last a dry weekend! (well, a dry Good Friday anyway) so the initial paint job is finished. Weathering when I get round to planning it.

Now on to the Dragon Pz3! Rather like MichaelSatin's Panther, I will end up with half a Pz3 and a quarter of a StuG left over at the end.

Dry fitting the wings after completely re-modelling the way they hold together. In case you're not following the blog progress, I'm modelling the entirety of the fuselage interior so I had to chop up and discard the parts of the wings that mated together inside the kit.
That's an A3 cutting board it's sitting on to give some of scale. Biiiiiiig model !

Thanks guys, I missed your replies.
How about another update on progress to make up for it?
Work on the constructing the flaps is complete (I still need to add some tiny rods between the halves once they are glued in place but nothing major)
Good progress on the airframe construction inside the fuselage too - one side almost finished.
Lastly, after I took this photo I glued the first wing in place. Unfortunately this starts to make things hard to handle but to complete the formers and stringers inside the fuselage I need the hole where the wing and body mate together filled and smoothed.
