Nice looking fuel truck, D. I like it all shiny like that. #unitpride.

Gaz

Thanks Gaz. I was looking at it and couldn't help thinking "Wax on . . . Wax off"

Positively remarkable work here. I have so many questions but I will reserve so as not to clutter this build. I have not built dioramas before but I am getting the itch now.

Thanks for the positive feedback Julio, much appreciated.

Apologies for the lack of progress here folks, real life (i.e. work, that bane of the modeler) has been killing me lately but hopefully I will get back to the Razorback in the next few days.

Two great looking models Damian. I am looking forward to seeing them finished and the final display together. I have the Airfix Albion refueller kit so will perhaps do an RAF version of this build one day.

Thanks Simon, I appreciate the positive feedback very much.

Small update, weapons of choice for painting landing lights and fixing clear parts:

For the wing lights I paint the wing recess behind the clear part with chrome silver and then either glue the clear or paint over with tinted clear as required.

More soon.

Weathering time. I've been wanting to give the Promodeller Weathering Wash a proper run for a while now, so here goes:

Before topside

After application topside (sill wet)

Before underside

After application underside (still wet)

Applied straight from the bottle with a stiff-bristled brush. I will let it dry 24 hours or so and then start the removal process.

Thanks for checking in Russ, much appreciated!

Weathering completed, very happy with this product.

Top and bottom dry, before any cleaning.

Left wing topside before and after cleaning, all that is required is some good quality paper towel, very slightly moistened, wipe off in the direction of airflow to create streaking and leave panel lines highlighted. Keep wiping until you get the desired result. Very simple process.

Right Wing topside cleaned off.

Whole topside cleaned off, took about 10 minutes.

Before and after comparison under the stabilisers.

. . . . and left wing. Got a bit rough with the paper towel here and took off some of the insignia decal, a little touch up paint will fix it.

And whole underside done.

Touchups and flat clear next then final bits and bobs to be added.

Sorry for the long-winded post, hopefully some will find it useful and a product review.

Cheers, D

The wash looks pretty nice, but too bad some of the decals were damaged. Did you seal the decals prior to adding the wash?

Thanks Jelger. Yes, I sealed the decals with Future, but obviously not well enough! A lesson for me. This product is clay based and possible a little abrasive when removing. More coats of clear required on the next build.

shame about the decal D, but you can always put down to 'action damage'

Damian,
Glad to see you back at it! That stuff did the panel lines nicely.

Damian,
Really like how the wash brought the panel lines out. I've read about this, and you've provided a nice tutorial and review. Thanks!

Thanks for the positive feedback folks, much appreciated.

Almost there now, touched up the insignia and gave the whole thing a coat of Clear Flat (Gunze acrylic cut with GP Lacquer Thinner), then attached most of the bits'n'bobs with CA.

Gotta love a quiet Saturday night with a P-47 and all of the modeling essentials on the bench!

I'm not too happy with the fit of the front glass, I think the Future coat was too thick and interfered with the fuselage/canopy alignment. Too late to do anything about it now.

I still need to cut out the fuel cap cover and scratch an open hatch from some thin foil, and the glass needs some cleaning up (paint seepage under the masking).

I will fit a whip antenna from some light gauge wire and do some streaking and stains with pastels, then the P-47 is done. Then the fuel truck and the base and figure painting and . . . hmmm, another 12 months before I get the dio to presentation point.

Yep, in a display with a 1/8 Hasegawa Clerget and this . . .

from an original Sopwith F1. My grandfather brought it back from WWI.

Yep, just haven't been back at it for a while, lack of bench time is quite serious and distressing this year

Wow D!

That's some memorabilia!

So, what's the time frame for completion? Makes my 3 years look pretty short
