The kits are somewhat expensive, but you get what you pay for.

Actually, I find WNW prices quite reasonable for a 1/32 kit (at least, before CDN dollar dived), with free shipping, or included in cost.

Hi there

In the UK it's definitely worth ordering direct from Wingnuts - even after paying the customs duty etc., it works out cheaper.

All the best

Rowan

Around about how much I expect to pay after customs and handling is put on top? Just after a rough price I ran the cost of the Rumpler through a currency converter which came out at £64, so already cheaper than a well known UK trader!
Cheers.

Hi Stephen

I've got a couple of orders placed with WNW at the moment, so I'll post the final costs when they arrive to give a comparison with UK prices.

All the best

Cheers! It would be a big help in my final decision.

When you order through a third party (ie. Hannants), they're charging their percentage, plus shipping from them. WNW claims they have no other outlets than themselves, so you are paying the same as any other person; company; etc. Plus you wait extra time for delivery as your kit goes half-way around the world before it gets sent out a second time to yourself. With WNW's price increases next month, looks like I'll have to order one right now!

The big H can be pretty pricey, I wasn't even going to consider buying from them! WNW themselves are my first choice, if I can get them while the exchange rate is in my favour. The Rumpler is my first choice but I'm also tempted by a fighter of some type. Possibly the SE5a?
And yes, I know I'm complicating matters for myself!

is there an idea or speculation on the % of the USD increase? [/quote]

I just checked Wingnut Wings website. Here are some sample USD price increases (old price/new price):
Fokker EII/III ($69/$79)
Bristol FeB ($100/$119)
Roland CIIa ($100/$119)
Hansa-Brandenburg W.12 ($100/$129)
Gotha GIV ($149/$189)

Unless there is a future price decrease (yeah, right!) this will likely curtail any future WNW purchases for me. Now that I'm retired, $100+ kits are likely to be a very rare event.

WOW! Just looked at WNW and noticed an increase of $30 on the kit's I was interested in since last night! They are now way outside of my budget and my fault for snoozing (and buying a house recently!).
