About time I got started on this!
The house move is now complete and I have a dedicated mancave again so hopefully I'll be able to get some proper modelling time in and actually finish something!

So, what to build for the 56th FG Group Build?
I'm aiming very high on this.
Not one, not two, but three builds! Even if ones a hanger queen.

First one, will be to finally finish the P-47C with the resin flat keel and 200G belly tank from Mike West.
Checking back, I'm amazed to discover this was started 4 years ago!
Final Klear coats applied today and I'm planning on doing the panel line wash tomorrow. All national markings, code letters and serial numbers were painted on using Miracle Masks. The noseart and name are Cartograph decals from Peter and mines book published by AJ Press last year.



The other two, at least in the initial stages, I'm building side by side. This is working out pretty well so far.
At the moment I'm halfway through the cockpits.

For the first time in years, I'm building something in 1:72.
Partially because I wanted a quicker build to enable me to use some more of the decals from our book, and partially because all but 2 of my 1:72 builds were recently destroyed.

So, a 1:72 Tamiya Razorback will become HV-N "Liberty Belle"


Basic cockpit block painting finished today. Ready for the detailing.


A 1:48th Tamiya D-25 will be UN-Bbar "Anamosa II"


Same point in the painting for this one.

All cockpit parts painted and ready for assembly.


And both cockpits finished.



Then before you know it with these superb Tamiya kits,,,2 airframes together and being left for the glue to cure.

Nige, anybody would think that you might know your way around a P-47 the way you get to this point so smoothly!

Cracking work so far mate, really good to see you getting some time at the bench. And a triple-build to boot!

Complaint: You just had to bring your LM-Z build into the picture here didn't you? I've told you in another thread, it will make mine look like a piece of old rope! Thanks very much Seriously, I'm loving that build. Can you please link the progress thread here so folks can see the belly conversion stages? I mentioned those Lone Star resin conversion parts in my thread as well, they look amazing!

Made a start with decaling, which makes a change from painting the markings on.





Leaving these under the Microsol for a while now before continuing on.

Liberty Belle's done.
First 1:72 build I've done for years and the old MKI Eyeballs don't seem to be as up for this scale as they used to!
A bit scrappy in places but it's nice to get a relatively quick build under my belt and get a bit of the mojo back.

So, moving swiftly onto my more familiar scale these days of 1:48th and the Tamiya bubbletop which will be Anamosa 2.

Previously, I'd left it at this stage while I concentrated on finishing the little razorback.



Since then I've preshaded, painted the underside in Airframe Aluminium Alclad and also painted the cowling.
The cowling of this aircraft took a bit of a battering in a nose over which resulted in it having a replacement prop of a different type to the one it left the factory with, and also a replacement panel. All of which leads to quite an interesting looking cowling which is a bit different to the normal look.
This one's going to have full D-Day stripes which, on this particular aircraft resulted in 2 colour squadron codes.
I'm planning on getting the top surface finished over the next couple of days, time permitting, and then it's onto the markings and invasion bands.
Here's how she stands at the moment.

I'll leave it to cure, put a coat of Klear on to protect the paint from handling scratches and then onto the markings and invasion stripes

Some serious progress reports there Nige, the production plant is in full swing mate!

"Liberty Belle" came up very nicely, it must be a while since you used decals for the standard markings!

"Anamosa 2" is moving along beautifully as well, great work on the paint so far. You have really got the pre-shading and faded OD down to a fine art. As you said, the cowl on this aircraft is a real point of interest.

Keep up the fine work mate, great to see you getting some bench time.

You're not the only one with several jugs just waiting to be started. I've got to make a concerted effort to get going on a few of them, considering that I'm more a of Jug fan then a Mustang fan being from Suffolk county, the home of Republic Aviation.

I got the wing insignia painted on, and promptly forgot to take a photo before I masked everything up to start the fuselage invasion bands and national insignia.
So,,, all will be revealed at a later date.

Fuselage masked and the white base cost painted.

Too busy debating about which way to vote perhaps?
