I was catching up on the new SyFy series "The Magicians" the other day and features in one episode was a Roden Nieuport 28. It looked like a 1/48 scale. I also remember an old episode of the sit-com "Mama's Family" where Vint played by Ken Berry was building what looked like a Matchbox 1/32 Bf 109E. I like to see when TV shows or movies show characters interested in the hobby.

Josh Hartnett "40 Days and Nights" making models to keep his mind of other things comes to mind.

We were watching the film 'The Boat That Rocked' a couple of nights ago and my partner spotted an Airfix Lancaster box in amongst the piles of records. I'm surprised I didn't see it myself. I did once spot a vintage kit in John Carpenters 'The Thing'. Aurora I think?
I do remember an episode of Home Improvement with Tim Allen, which had Tim building models with his kids. He kitbashed a Supermarine Spitfire with a Ford Mustang.

The last episode of Tim Allen's latest show "Last Man Standing", was almost entirely devoted to models (tank models, featuring his favorite, the Sherman tank). He also has a number of them on his office desk at "Outdoor Man" the show's place of employment. The car attraction he had in "Home Improvement also exits in this new show, and has included cameos by Jay Leno as a local mechanic (some may not know that Jay Leno is an avid classic car collector and restorer). In the introduction to the first season of Home improvement, the opening introduction shots show one of Tim Allen's on screen sons assembling a model kit of a B-25 I think. Also the set of "Tool Time" on "Home Improvement" prominently featured stick and tissue models of a Fokker DR I and a Sopwith Camel in many shots. I'd venture to guess either he's a modeller, or someone responsible for the show is a modeler.

That 70's Show..
Eric Foreman... Star wars models. I for sure remember a X-wing in a box with some others. I think they were cleaning the basement and someone wanted to throw them out..

Eric Morecambe was a keen modeller on "Morcambe and Wise." I remember in one skit he had an Airfix 1/24 Spitfire.

In the most recent episode of the TV show "Blindspot" a character was building a Revell/Monogram Hellcat. Another character stepped on it!!

My favorite film depiction of model building is in the 1953 movie Niagra, where Joseph Cotten would rather build his model car than hang out with Marilyn Monroe. What a loser!

I noticed an episode of "South Park" had a scene where Butters is building a snap kit of a car. Made me think of the neon revell nascar kits of the 90s
There was also the Rodney Dangerfield movie "Easy Money" where he was building a model airplanes to stay away from booze women and gambling inorder to recieve his inheritance. He struggles to paint it while his daughter practices violin in the next room. He then leaves with Joe Pesci and tells his wife "Honey theres a messerscmitt in the kitchen, can you clean it up?"

There's also the infamous scene in Battlestar Galactica where Edward James Olmos (as Captain Adama) improvisationally smashes what turns out to have been a very valuable ship model on loan to the producers from a maritime museum: https://www.reddit.com/r/BSG/comments/2o7680/til_the_model_ship_that_adama_smashes_was/
