Eduard: New tool Bf 109G-6Posted: Thursday, March 03, 2016 - 10:27 PM UTC
When Eduard first released a Bf 109G-6 two years ago, it had a few "issues", well now Eduard have gone back to that kit, and this April 2016 sees a release of Bf 109G-6 in 1/48 as a completely new project with 100% of NEW TOOLS.

Pretty sure this kit has not been changed. Nice 1/46 scale rendering.

Looking very promising. While a completely new tool might seem excessive I think it was the only option.

How can you be pretty sure?

I also think that they had to do 100% new tool to maintain credibility as a market leader. I'm sure to get one myself, though I'm not sure what I will do with the old and I have.

I'll admit that the lambasting it got for it's out-of-scale wingspan kept me from rushing out to buy the current kit. I would have gotten to it eventually, but now once I get the 109's in my stash built, I'll buy it fer sure.

You'd better wait for the Zvezda release this year. Their F-2 and F-4 model are the top of quality and details.
I do not think Eduard with an updated or corrected tool could do better. I for sure won't buy it until I see the box content with my own eyes !.Eduard flashing announce keeps me very cautious.
At the moment the sole advantage of the Eduard model will be the PE, decals and masks. Zvezda should make an effort in this field.
Of course I may be totally wrong and I only wish their New 109 could equal their Spitfires and MiG-21 quality.
Good luck to Eduard for his effort and thanks for having recognised that they were totally wrong with their first issue.( After a long, long time and arguments....)

There is at the moment no Zvezda distributor in Australia, I am told at my local LHS. I'll admit that some of the Zvezda sprue shots of other 109's look great. But there are so many 109's with different schemes and markings, that I'll be happy to buy as many as I can.

Great news! I've built their G-6 in 2014 and there's nothing to complain about the fitting. It's just perfect. The only "lows" I found are, that there are no clear parts for the position lights and the pitot tube is molded to the wing which will make it break off during assembly. Still need a 40 ft container full of this kit. I'm not a rivet counter so I don't care if it's 1/48 or 1/47. I build for the fun of it. Do rivet counters have any fun in life except counting rivets .... ?

So its out, I picked up one Yesteday and from the first look its great. I havent measured it yet, but the level of detail is great. If I compare it to F2 from Zvezda, Eduard did a better job here. There are also parts for other versions on the sprues for F and K versions. Suprisingly the decals are not from Cartograph, so I dont know how they will behave, but I dont think thats the point, since the main thing are obviousely the new sprues.

Decals
Remember when they had the Propagteam decals in the box? ... something like that. Really great but I lost two because of irreversable folding over.
all the best
