So, we have a fair few campaigns going for WWI and WWII, but not so much for those who prefer the blow-torch approach to thrust. We've had fairly recent Century Series and Cold War campaigns, how about one for the Terrible Teens? The successful and long-lived designs of the '70s and '80s, by which I mean:

F-14
F-15
F-16
F/A-18

For the sake of variety, I would suggest including:

F-117
A-10

What do you all think?

I need to retire to build all these kits, but I do have several kits that fit this build. Depends on time frame, and I'd be in.

So what about a Migs 15-17-19 and Su-15 and Su-17 ?

I'm in with or without them..

If you allow the A-10 then you better make room for F-111 also!

Not sure I agree about the F-111. It was a 1960s bird, first flew in '64 and entered service in '67. The A-10 first flew in 1972 and entered service in '77, placing it right in line with the fighter teens. This, of course, applies even more to the MiGs which were 1950s designs.

Hope this doesn't turn anyone away!

Ah, I see the logic now, although I'm not sure the F-117 had all that long-lived a career. Maybe it just felt like a flash in the pan.

I'd quite happily join up for one of the classic US "teen" aircraft but are you aiming the campaign at aircraft with teen in the name or aircraft that dominated the 70's and 80's ?

If the latter then you get into blurry territory with the RAF's Phantoms, Buccaneers and Tornados...

I'm thinking about a grouping sort of like the Century Series but later. I know it's U.S.-centric, and if that's a problem would be happy to consider expanding, if that would be more interesting to people. We could call it a Fourth Generation Fighter campaign (though that would rule out the A-10 and probably F-117 as well). Let me know what you think!

I actually quite like the idea of a tightly focused campaign based on the US 'teens, i just wanted to clarify!
A broader 4th gen fighter campaign could follow later ?

I was thinking that the F-14,15,16,18 were there because of the teen age, that's why I suggested the Mig's and Sukhois.
I get it now.

Howdy Y'all
This sounds like a great idea but could we save a "Fourth Generation Fighters" campaign for later? We haven't got the "Second Generation" up and running yet. Then we seem to skip the "Third Generation"
I can't wait to watch everyone's builds. These are the planes I followed when I was younger. Does anyone know if the Tamiya 1/48 F-16 or F-117 kits are "shake & bake"? I've seen my friends in the club make some really nice F-16's.
I'll hold off on joining the campaign. I've got 10 campaigns going and am still waiting for "Second Generation Jets".
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

I think the Tamiya kits are very nice and are more recent, so the engineering is top notch.

I believe we'll stick with the original concept of U.S.'70s and '80s aircraft in the teens, as set out in my original post. This would, of course, include all versions and users of any of those aircraft.

I think we're up to 5 so far. Anyone else interested?

Oh no, I'm excited to revisit some of the projects of my (modelling) youth.... but which to do?????
I built each of the 14,15,16 and 18 quite badly back then.

Great, I think that's 10 (if Jose is in)! I'll see about setting it up later today. Would you all rather see a start date in March or May?

I think May would be better for me, but I'm ok if everyone else wants an earlier start.

Had a look for the kit last week and couldn't find it. Might still be boxed up at my parents house.
On the plus side it's the Hasegawa Hornet so should build quickly and with no fuss.

This campaign has been APPROVED! It will run from 1 May through 1 December, 2017. If you want to see the rules and enlist, go here.

I decided to leave the 117 out for now as being rather an outlier, but am more than willing to change my mind if people want it included. I kept the A-10 in, however.

Looking forward to this one!

Because, as I believe has been mentioned before, I'm a certifiable lunatic, my build for this one will probably be one of these two fine kits produced by Academy's A team:

I really need to see someone...
