I like the look of the YAH-56A Cheyenne, even if it did have that funkey little wirley-gig stuck on its rear end

The AH-1W is the best out there, small, nimble and able to hold its own with the AH-64 Apache and the MiL-24 Hind.

Surprised that no one has mentiond the CH47 Chinook. That baby will (literally) blow you away!
As far as heavy haulers go, that's my pick of the pack.... Quite the workhorse for the past 40 years and still going strong!

Well, having jumped from Huey's and rapelled from Blackhawks...I have to say I like the Huey best...ranger74 is right...you can't mistake the sound of a Huey beating the air into submission and you always know it's a Huey, even if you can't see it...what a beautiful sound...
...of course there is the up and coming "Comanche"...that might become my new favorite...got it running through my veins...

I would have to say the whole UH-60 Series including the SH-60. I have a dream to finish all versions of the Army UH-60 in 1/35th scale, pretty ambitious for a figure modeler Also really like the OH-58 Kiowa.

Well DJ unfortunately, the Commanche got the axe last week or so, and won't be going beyond the few protos.

Heh, im not sure which ones are the most popular, so much variety, but i'd say the apache huey and blak hawk win, but of course we all know the huey is the best outta the 3!
Cheers!

My favourite would be the Chinook, just for the sheer Brute force its engines can put out!
Second would be the Apache, Just for the firepower!

From a purely 'cool looking' perspective I have to go with MLD and say the Hind.
I also love the CH 54 skycrane.
Found this link in searching for the CH 54

I hear where you are coming from, but they're all nostalgia based and largely due to be consigned to museums!!!! Heh, heh, heh My helicopter is the best.... the Augusta Westland EH101 Merlin (Possibly soon to be also known as the US101!!) Why? Cos it's sooo pretty and emerging to become quite a beast. Okay it can't lift iso-containers, but who cares? It looks great and is a hoot at low level Gotta love turning tax payers money into noise and fun!

as far as kits go, I really like the Blackhawk series that academy did, big mean and ugly. I've been out of the scene for a while, as good friends will know.......can anyone tell me if a decent kit of the following have been produced- in 1/35th scale -over the past year or so of abscence?
The hind
The Uh-1D Slick?
The marine corps Sikorsky CH....47?(memory dust)
Thanks for updating an old fart
Jack old enough to knox better............and still learning.
Don't shoot me I'm just the doorman
