Well I've been slowly working away on my kit of the Kamov Ka50 Black shark and to be honest it's got so many stencils for a 1/72nd scale kit my flabber is completely gasted! The fit so far has been good with little issues and a smattering of putty neded in places. The contra rotating blades won't actually rotate if built how Dragon would have you do it. You'll need to create a plate for the tilt control rods if you atually want them independent of one another. A pretty simple fix but this time round I just glued it all together to save time. I've got a second example that I'm thinking about doing a build log for and making both sets independent. Any how here are the beginning shots for your edification.

I found the box that the Wessex had been stashed. Here is where it was at before the hospital.

Engine assembled and Primed

Cockpit painted

Frame painted up

The instrument panel appears to be entirely a figment of someones imagination, with a lot more instruments than what I would expect for a basic Korea/Vietnam vintage helicopter. I found a few pictures of different panels on H-13s, but none of them match what the kit has.

No instrument decals are provided so if anyone has a decent image of what should be present it would be much appreciated.

G'day Iain.

Nice work so far on the Sioux. There are walkaround links for 5 different airframes HERE with plenty of great reference shots. Hopefully this helps.

There's also a good image HERE

Cheers for that Damian. That should really help.

I also found a semi decent shot of an Aussie sioux panel by just searching for "cockpit" instead of "instrument panel"

iain, that chopper did not have much of an engine did it?

I have a small problem. I need to attach some type of material on 3 these antenna on both sides of the chopper, but cannot figure out if stretched sprue will do the job.

I expect sprue would do it, if you're careful. I use a product called EZline to rig biplane models, it comes in quite fine thicknesses and is elastic so it stands up to handling better than stretched sprue. I know WingNut Wings carries it and I think you can get it through Amazon here in the States as well.

HTH. Nice work by the way!

Hi Guys I've finished the Ka-50 but for some reason I can't find my in progress shots for the build which is somewhat frustrating. So I'll just post pics of the finished build and then take some gallery shots later. So without further ado here's them pics!

Jose my friend fantastic job on the NH90! The RNZAF has some of these choppers too but I've not studied exactly how they differ from the kitset, You've provided the insiration to try.

Thanks Bob the rotors kind of irk me as they simply wouldn't turn independently of one another without some modification, or at least I couldn't see how! I'll be building another and this time I'm going to make it work! And I'm thinking of putting it in a build log so everyone can learn by my mistakes LOL.

Nylon invisible mending thread or fishing leader will also do the job nicely.

Slight problem with my Sioux. Glued the bottom of the frame with engine mount backwards, so the engine ended up way too far forward.
Had to carefully pry some delicate parts, and then glue them back together the correct way round.

Finally found a bunch of snowy Sunday afternoon bench time for the Ka-50
fitting the Neomega cockpit isn't the easiest, but it is worlds better than the kit parts.

coat of faded/NATO block on the blades

fuselage halves pressed together

And a full point victory over the carpet monster when the part doesn't even make it to the floor!

Hey Chris, is that the Italeri or the Hobby Boss kit?
I've already got an all black Werewolf in the cabinet, so I'm going with the sand/brown/ochre cammo on this one with the 497 little tiny Begemot decals.

Hi Mike the box says Dragon but I'm not really sure whose plastic it is. I did look at Scalemates but I can't remember the lineage.
