I have not built an aircraft model since Moses played for the 'Little League' (well not quite that long), but I have a Matchbox P-47D in the dim reaches of the stash. So as long as no-one laughs at my attempt at wingy thingies, I'm in...

Mark, I would like to see your Buffalo. It always gets a bad rap.
I searched for the ribbon size, but was not successful. Could anyone give me the correct size, I am trying to play with PAINT on a couple of ideas for a ribbon.

Amazing enough I have 3 in the stash, an old Airfix bagged kit, the Hasegawa and Special Hobby offerings. I built the Revell one as a kid, so this one is kinda a full circle journey.

Howdy Y'all
Will partially completed kits be allowed? I have an I-16 I would like to complete and it would fit into this campaign.
The kit is the Weekend Version of Eduard's 1/48 I-16.
I hope it will be allowed but I have other kits to build if it isn't allowed.
Take care,
Don "Lakota"

May have to put my Airfix Buffalo on hold. The look down window is missing. Squadron might have the Clear Vax replacement. Meanwhile I still have the Hasegawa or the Special Hobby flavors.

That looks a tad more than 25% done.

Here's my work breakdown structure, percentage of entire project:
Assembly completed-20%
Assembly not completed-20%
Painting-40%
Base-10%
Figure-10%
Of course this are just estimates. I'll defer to the campaign leader for a final decision that I will abide by. If I can't build the I-16 then no problem. I have a F4U and a Fw 190 I could build.
Take care,

Believe it or not, I was hoping Bob would ask you to do two builds. I was considering suggesting it, but Bob did it on his own.

Well, mates, I think I can try this campaign.
At least two P-47s in my stash come to my mind and a nimble Fokker D XXI
BTW, the TA-152 and 154 had inline-engines..
Let's have fun!

Hi all!
I'm in for this one, thinking a zero, though which one? Hmmm...
Might be time for the A6M5!

peter: welcome and you can never get enough P-47s.
John: I also thought an Zero would make a good subject. I went with a Rufe since Ive never built one.

Hi Bob!
Tamiya's Rufe kit is pretty good despite it's age. I built one for the PTO campaign. The fit is great, as one would expect, the decals depending on when they were printed are, well so so.
As with any Zero, the biggest challenge is masking the canopy. If you plan to use the dolly, make sure you add more weight than you think you need! And do it early in the build!!
Otherwise it is a great kit!

Thanks for the tip John.
1. what is the weight for?.
2. know where I could get decals for the Rufe. I live in an area that has no hobby shop and I don't trust eBay for decals.

Hi, Bob!
The weight should be installed to prevent the Seaplane "Rufe" from becoming a "tail-sitter" even while it is situated on the Dolly, which would make the display look pretty ridiculous...
Re: The decals sold on Ebay-
I've purchased NUMEROUS decal sets on Ebay, which have given me NO PROBLEMS whatsoever. It all depends on if you're buying said decals from a REPUTABLE vendor, or from some SHMOE sitting in his damp basement, trying to unload his moldy wares...
Try DAUNTLESS HOBBIES/Scott's Hobby Shop, run by Scott, and who uses "rebelalpha" as his username- Great prices and great merchandise. You can also try LOTS of MODELS, "lotsofmodels" username; ALSO a very reputable seller. You can also try This'n'That, username "thisnthat", who are great to deal with.
They all sell new and "pre-owned" merchandise...
PS- I do not work for DAUNTLESS HOBBIES/Scott's Hobby Shop, LOTS of MODELS, This'n'That, or EBAY...

Hey Bob,
I don't work for anyone that I'm about to mention either!
I will reiterate what Dennis said, Dauntless is the best place I've found for AM decals. Scott and his team has lots of them, and cool odd ones as well. Lots of Models is good, I've purchased many from them, and, on one set they sent me message saying that they were in such poor shape that they could not send to me. Pretty nice I thought, I still had to hunt around for P-38 decals, but good customer service.
For me, being in Malaysia, hobby shops are really not here, unless you like Gundam stuff. And there's only one shop, fortunately he does now stock Mr. Color paints! Though limited.
I use eBay for most of my supplies, and sometimes I find a deal too good to pass up on, though my track record lately isn't so hot. You do need to shop around, and look at the feedback that their customers are leaving. I find this most revealing. Look at the negative feedback, and see what people have to say. If they say "no communication" or "never received", be wary.
Just my 5 cents worth!

I looked into those sites and was pleasantly surprised. Thanks.
When I thought up this campaign, the only a/c that came to mind was the P-47. So I purchase a couple of really cheap kits on Ebay.
REVELL 1/48 P-47
MONOGRAM 1/48 P-47.
When they arrived both were not assembled, but both had been painted. Not a good paint job on either, too many bubbles and pits. Sanding was the only way I would be able to continue with either kit. Boy! am I tired of sanding and I just started.
